The Baccalaureate was held in the gymnasium on the night of May 18, 1952. The annual Junior-Senior Prom and Banquet was held on May 15 at the French Lick Springs Hotel. CLASS HISTORY On September 3, i9 +8 we entered High School as freshmen, with Alvin Holland as our class sponsor. For the class party's we had a weiner roast and a skating party. Our officers were: President Vice-President Girl's Sec. Boy's Sec. Vaughn Garrett Eddie Benjamin Janet Jones Russell Minich In our sophomore year we entered with 36 students. Ray A. Clark was our class sponsor, ''e went to Spring Mill State Park for our class party. Our sponsors were Miss Crooke and Mr. Young, ’.'ith the funds from the coke and candy machines we gave the Seniors the annual prom at the Graystone Hotel at Bedford. Our class sponsor was Mr. Holland. We enjoyed several parties and a trip to Spring Mill State Park at the end of the year. During the year we lost 5 students. At the end of the year we traveled to Spring Mill Park to spend a rainy day, but we had a very good time. We have been busy selling cokes and candy at the gallgames and at school. We received our class rings in November and are very proud of them. We wish to thank Miss Crooke and Mr. Young for helping us with the candy and cokes and getting ready for the prom. Clark Mathematics Rifle Club Amelia Matthews Band Glee Club Beta Club The club attended the Beta Club Convention at Louisville, Ky., Dec. 1st and had a very enjoyable trip. A program was given for the high school by Joyce burress, Peggy Mattingly, Camilla Beasley, Dean Waggoner, and Bobby Walton. The club presents a play each month for the school. It's first play, Like Father, Like Son , was given March 7, 1952. The officers are: President ------------- Dean Waggoner Vice President ------- Betty Strawn Sec.-Treas. ---------- Norma Jones Sponsor -------------- Henry Jones Glee Club and Band The third annual Tri-School Festival was held In the gymnasium December 10, 1952. Participants In the festival were the music departments of Mont- gomery, Shoals, and Loogootee. It was supervised by Jean Walker, Jane and Amelia Matthews. Vaughn (Harry) Garrett. Senior-forward, stands 6'0B and weighs 175. He is always in there fighting for rebounds. He is es- pecially good underneath the basket. Vaughn has that never glee up spirit. He was one of the Co-captains. James (Louie) Moore. Senior-guard, stands 5' 10 and weighs 180. Louie is a good long shot and ball handler. He is also a good fighter and defensive man. Kenneth (Kenny) Sanders.Sophmore-forward stands 5' 10 and welfcs 157 pounds. Kenny is always high scorer and always came through when points were needed most. Kenny w411 be greatly depended upon the next two years. Wllmer Jones. Junior-guard stands 5' 9 and weighs 155 pounds. Wllmer is a good ball handler and especially good on long shots. He is the only left handed player on the team. Much of the teams success next year will depend on him. Norman (Leo) Gllllck. Freshman-guard, stands 5' 10 weighs 155. Norman is a good dependable reserve. He is a good ball handler and a good fighter. The Lions will depend on him for the next three years. Blllv FlBher. Freshman-forward, stands 5' 11 weighs 160. Billy is a good rebounder and fighter. He saw action in many varsity games. He will be with the Lions the next three years. Ned Morrlsette. Junior-guard, stands 5' 10 and weighs 170. Ned is fast and a good ball handler. He is also a good fighter and a good driver. He will be greatly depended upon next year. NEW YEARS TOURNEY The Loogootee Lions drew the Plalnvllle Midgets for their first game of the New Years Tourney. After playing a hard fought game the Lions came out to win by a score of 55-39. We met the Montgomery Vikings that night for the final game. The Lions got off to a slow start and the Vlkinfs took the lead. After playing a hard fought ballgame, the Lions were finally defeated by the Vikings 54 to 33. SECTIONAL The Loogootee Lions, defending Sectional Champs, drew the Epson Salts for their first game of the Sectional. The Lions took the lead and stayed out in front until the final gun. The score ended 62 to 36 in favor of the Lions. The Lions met the Montgomery Vikings Saturday afternoon for their second game of the Sectional. The Lions got off to a good start but Just didn't seem able to keep up with the Vikings, so the oallgame ended 60 to 43 in favor of the Vikings.
