When I boarded the plene, and sat down In a comfortable chair, a stewardess approached and at once I recognized her. It was Janice Hutton who had attended L. H. 8. for one semester. She told me she had been a stewardess for almost three years. She said she and Johnny Inman had parried and were living In the Larkin Apartments. She said Tom Clement was the pilot of the plane in which I was riding. Well, as this was ending my little visit with my classmates. I was returning to Hollywood where I was featured In the new western sensation, NYoyo of the Middle West. PROPHECY i few years ago I was a senior In Loogootee High School, is I had moved away from Loogootee soon after we graduated, I had not seen ay classmates for several years. I decided I would make a trip back to Loogootee to see all my friends. I took the first train east the very next day. When I arrived at my destination and went to eat my lunch at the Diner, who do you suppose served It to me? I was served by the very happily married Bill Raney and Annabell Divine. I asked them If Charlotte Strawn was still around and they Informed me that she was a yell leader for one of the famous college teams. They also told me she was soon to be married to Biddle Oreene, about whom I heard a lot while we were still In high school. I left the Diner, is I was walking across the street, I ran across Eddie Gibson who told me he still was going with his Jasper Flame, and was also studying to be a mortician. He told me that Vary Jones and Opal Taylor had married and had two lovely children, iggle and Nellie, is Mary was one of my best friends, I decided I would take a bus to Burns City. (Jpon my arrival, you can guess my surprise as It now had street lights and a bus that went through the big city five times a day. When I knocked on Mary's door, you can Imagine her surprise at seeing me as It had been six years since we had graduated. She Invited me In and we sat down In two comfortable chairs and talked about our childhood life. She told me many things about our classmates. One of them which wasn't too much of a surprise was that G erald Bruner and Betty Spoonmore had married as soon as she was out of school. She said Jack Reeves and Jo Mallett had moved to Texas and owned a large ranch and their ranchhands were Leo irvin, Robert Cannon Fred Connell, and James Elliott. She told me John Schwartz, Charles Waggoner, and Ray Larkin had attended college and now were very successful men. ilfred Hoffmann was now a famous orchestra leader and played every night at Calumet Lake. Max Cooper, John Holland, and Robert Hotz were his most popular singers. She told me Norma Street and Donald Dlvlnt had married and owned a large farm a few miles out of Loogootee. is we sat and ate chocolates, she told me Jeep Meyers was an out- standing player In the field of athletics. is time was drawing near, I had to be starting back to Loogootee as I had to return to my home In the west the next day. I bade goodbye to Mary and took a bus back to Loogootee. On the way back, I happened to think of Marilee Hoffmann I What In the world happened to her? I decided I would ask someone in Loogootee where she was. Walking down the street, I happened to look in a store window and who should I see but Richard Miles 1 I had a long talk with him and he informed me as to where I would find Marilee. He also told me Robert Jones was a confirmed tatchelor, living In his own little shack a few miles out of town. On my way to Marilee's home, I decided 1 would buy a paper to read on my trip home the next day. I stopped at the Tribune Office and who should sell It to me but Howard Smith. He told me he had bought the Tribune Office soon after he graduated. I arrived at Marilee's home which was a little ways out of Haysvllle and of course she had married Eugene Hembree and she said they were very happy. We sat down In two comfortable chairs and drank coffee. We talked about the good times we had had In school, especially when Mr. Halgerty would catch us talking In civics class and would call our attention to it. While I was there, the milkman came and was I surprised at who It was I Wilbur Sanders 1 He told me he enjoyed his Job very much but he was going to take up music as his career in the near future. Well, time was drawing near so I left Marilee's home, went back to Loogootee to catch a plane back west. (Loogootee now had an airport.) (continued)
