•50 CLASS HISTORY The history of our olaas goes baok to September, 1946, the day we entered Loogootee High School. We all remember this day and treasure the many happy ones we have spent here since. We began our freshmen year with MPas Matthews and Mr. Holland as our olass sponaors. We had several parties which were enjoyed by all. In 1947 forty-four sophomores enrolled and we had hoped to have forty- four graduates in 50. With Mrs. McGovern as our sponsor we emerged success- fully from silly sophomores to Jolly Juniors. In 1948 we began our Junior year, yet to be remembered as one full of fun and activities. By operating the candy and coke machines, we earned money to sponsor the prom and banquet. We lost eleven more members, but undaunted, we, that were left, endeavored to make the prom a success. We decided to hold it at Spring Mill State Park Inn. Of course, there were objections, but we wanted to do something different. Success??? I’ll say it was, even Mr. Haigerty admitted it was a beautiful setting for a spring prom. Here we are now in our senior year. How time flies , I There are now only twenty-nine of us. We suffered a great blow when one of our beloved classmates, Andy Soeder, was killed in an automobile accident shortly after school started. In his memory we are therefore dedicating this annual that his memory may always linger with us. In graduating we wish to express our gratitude to the teachers for their splendid co-operation and undying patience.
