FOREWORD As another college year is summarized and sandwiched between the covers of another VIRGINIAN, we hope this yearbook will convey a theme of informality. For it is, we feel, informality that makes Longwood a delightful locale for learning and living. And living means everyday doings, mundane to us now, but magical as we look back on them in reminiscence. We ' ll remember v aiting in that bank line (it ' s always longest on Saturday!) . . . stumbling through a just-learned color song . . . fighting sleep to witness the colonnade procession ... .... Informality marks these and all our daily activities, and it is of these activities that memories are made.

E D I C A T I O N Through the years you have guided us in developing scientific, logical thinking in all phases of our lives. How can we begin to enumerate the many ways that you have managed to widen your circle of friends by always showing sym- pathetic interest to our problems? Because of this unquestioning loyalty to Longwood and her students, we, the staff of the 1963 VIRGINIAN, dedicate this yearbook with pride and thanks to two wonderful people: To Dr. George W. Jeffers, dear Dr. Jeff, whose knowledge and gentle heart has led us through many times of trial; And to Raymond H.
