I iriiinia B.S. in Rusiness Education The Senior Class As we drove up before Senior Dorm in the fall of ' 57, graduation seemed a distant dream of the future; but old Papa Time has been shifting that hourglass with amazing rapidity, for the time has finally come when we can feel those sheepskins almost within our grasps. We started out on our senior year minus sixteen of our classmates — student teaching in Roanoke, a brand new project with very satisfying results. After about eight weeks of school, our strays came rolling in from the Star City, just in lime to add their talents to senior Circus, held this year in the Carribean Isles and wonderfully directed by Gayhart and LaFontaine. To make it typically Circus, we declared we didn ' t have time for practice, went anyway, and loved every minute of it. The big night ar- rived; and, our last Circus foremost in our thoughts, we gave it our best and were rewarded with second place — perfectly confident that that was the hardest decision any judges ever had to make. With December came Snow Dreams, ably directed In Shirley Mae Alcock and the very loveliest dance ever. Never had a dance been so well named, for as winter progressed our Snow Dreams were fufiUed. The sunny South spent the winter cloaked in white, and we slipped on sidewalks, got dunked in drifts and socked with snow- balls. And the happiest people of all were the student teachers, who relaxed in the rec and greeted the rest of us with big grins and no school today ! ' Spring always comes, even if she is a bit slow at times, and with it a senior ' s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of graduation. College is but the beginning of knowledge. Our school gave of herself to us. and her greatest gift was to teach us to love learning. We had but to accept. For four years we looked forward to graduation, and now we have reached its gate. We owe so much to our faculty, to our administration, to our fellow students, and to our own special, wonderful Miss Weddle. We are ready to leave, but when we allow our minds to ramble over the sings, the parties, the picnics, the mis- chief, Tootie ' s songs, the philosophizing, the moments of inspiration, the million and one private memories that are the precious possessions of each individual — we know that we will keep these things for the proud vision of the future. — Carolyn Waugaman.
