Takine a Studious Stand Mock trial? Do you know what that even is? It is a group of people who devoted many hours of hard work to their desired profession, law. Advised by Vicki Clark, this year's team did an ex- cellent job and represented our school well. The sly, but clever, attorneys were Michael Matlock and Amy Davis. The innocent yet truthful witnesses were: Clint Choate, Casey Haw- thorne, Mandy Joaquin, and Paul Matlock. Melvin Wilcox III, or better known as L'Trip Wilcox, helped drill the ea- ger students for the meets. A productive lawyer him- self, he spent up to 7 hours a week with these hopeful lawyers. This year's team won the District meet enabling them to proceed to the Regional meet. There they did an out- standing job coming in first place. The next step was on to the big capital city for state competition. Winning three cases and losing one put our state ranked team into the number twelve position. Although the team didn't win state they were very proud of this great accom- plishment. Doing their best is what they wanted to do, and what they did do. We were awesome, feven if we were twelfthj. Actually getting to do something like this was quite an experience, a learn- ing one, said Michael Matlock. That's Badgering the Witness Paul Matlock points his linger in anger at Michael Matlock when he askes a leading question to the witness, Casey Hawthorne, as Clint Choate and Trip Wilcox look on. Successful Sponsor Vicki Clark savors the success of the Mock Trial team. ls this the paper you signed? AUD' Dime f lllll ll5 Miflldl J 3q llll'5 Mock Trial. Front row: Clint Choate. Amy Davis.
