W r he success of a sports program depends largely on the individ- uals involved in it The existence of one would be lm possible without the input of the coaches, students and par- ents However, the students themselves are the key force behind it all Individuals must be part of a team, and this requires certain things from each and every participant Most importantly it requires the ability to work together with other people to- wards one common goal. Other factors involved in a successful sports program in- clude: the willingness of each and every person to compete, ability of the individual to per- form to his best ability, a per- sonal desire to achieve, and ac- ceptance of victory as well as dealing with the inevitable de- feat. Judging by the success which the coaches, students and in- volved parents have enjoyed, they have obviously given what it takes to give Longview's sports program the great strength to survive under all circumstances. 'Fl IEJIFFERENT WEIRLID hroughout the years there has been quite a change on the world. In the 60's there were bell bottoms and plaid shirts, mini-skirts above the mid-thigh, six-inch thick heels on platform shoes. Now this is the 80's and there are straight leg pants with and without zippers, extra-large shirts some plaid, but mostly print such as a college name or a famous name brand. In the 50's name brands such as flour sacs and Braxton's and the first generation of Levi's. In the 1980's there are Guess, Levi's, stone-washed Lee's, plain Lee's, Venezia, Coca-Cola, Pepsi, and the most recent new style is the colored acid washed jeans. Shoes in the 80's have made a drastic change for the better. There are 5 heels, Dexter's, top-siders, penny loafers, Stacy-Adams and even shoes to match blue jeans identically. Another change is the hair- do. In 1950's there were po- nytail's, and Afro's. six feet wide, now there are perm waves, box cuts, scalped heads, curls, permanents, and even colored hair. Strwnge haircuts, like, col- lege sins, one-sided wopes and so forth are seen every- where. Years from now people will have the same reaction to our styles as we do about of parents style.
