Blood drive nets 187 pints The LHS Student Council held its first competition blood drive with Pine Tree on November 2 to donate blood to the Stewart Blood Center. LHS students and faculty members . with 187 pints edged past Pine Tree's 170 and all other East Texas area high schools. Fire destroys theatre On the morning of October 8, between 9:17 and 9:25, something began to burn in the Little Theatre. In less than nine minutes, more than half million dollars in damages had been done. The ceiling tiles were blackened with the smoke. All of the curtains, lights, electrical switches, and sound equipment were replaced. The backstage materials - props, chairs, sets - were destroyed. Over 500 costumes were damaged from the smoke and water. Principal Bob Woodruff gave im- mediate approval for the theatre to be renovated. Homecoming highlights fall As Homecoming Day approached, the Student Coun- cil sponsored many activities to boost school spirit. lt all began on Tuesday as college t-shirt day. Wednesday was concert t-shirt dayg Thursday, crazy sock day, and Friday was green and white day. The week climaxed with the announcement of Homecoming Queen and her Court. Football Sweetheart was also announced in addition to Band Beau and Sweetheart, Miss Viewette , and Miss Highkick. The classes of '62 and '72 held their reunion reception preceding the football game. After the Lobos' victory against Lufkin, a Homecoming dance was held to complete the week. Miss Viewvttv, Mary Handg Miss Highkick, Theresa Harris Band Banu and Szvcctlmzrt, Tony Kimbrell, Kim Van Dyke Football players break through the Homecoming banner. 24 Activities
