S. opens wide her doors for the real beginning. Everybody horrified by the numerous hairless heads. 9--Presentation of the Loboes. It is discovered that dear old Longview High really has a band this year. 13-Half holiday for the fair. All braved the Loop-O-Plane and wished we hadn't. Pat Neath seen contemplating whether or not to enter an interesting but risque sideshow. KP. S. She entered. J 16-First touch of football. Loboes down opponents 24-6. All femmes wear new fall clothes and smother happily. 21-Football candidates announced. Mr. Speight sprouts grey hairs trying to please everybody. . 23-Special to Dallas. Bobby Slade and his candid camera help out the chaperones. Algie Glover and Shirley Burdine don't mind a little publicity, howevah- 28-Queen contest speeches--Laughs from dopey campaign managers, particularly Jim Lewis and his just plain Maud. 30--Student body disappointed at trying Port Arthur's eleven. 5--LeBus gloomily appears with Berry's football and claims it's Love. 7--Highland Park game shows Loboes can face defeat and be good sports. Half the student body stays over in Dallas and has a swell-elegant time. ' 12-Rumor has it that the ex-Florida belle, Mary Lillian, was once seen without a gardenia in her hair. Many refuse to believe it. 14-Athens game and victory for the Loboes. Cookie discards Corbit and starts oflicially oing with Hardy who is very happy about it all. 16-Students are worried about Wilma's health-She didn't cut a single class all day. 20-First report cards and the usual loomy and indignant faces. Jane Booth, an exception, with her five AS's and aimeaming countenance. 27-School having annual excitement over paper on the floor, hall-necking, and too much note-writing. When the excitement calms down, there will be spells of goody- Igloodiness and then things will settle down to their natural state. 29- allowe'en costume ball attended by quite a few L. H. S.-ers. Biggest excitement of the night was Dorothy jane's grass skirt, especially when a lawn mower appeared. 1-School a bit out of the mood for larnin' after a hectic Hallowe'en. Lon looks as if he had quite a ni ht of it, as do several other lads and lassies. 9-After much ado, funior CSugarfootJ Dunaway is elected secretary of the junior Class in 'Patti's place. - ll-The Tyler special and a gridiron disappointment. 21-Mary julia and Margaret Ann stay home nursing red eyes, having seen Marie Antoinette yesterday. 28-Mary Lou is in the doghouse again. This time it concerns a tower. 2-Half the student body drops school and dashes to Tyler for the Tyler-Lufkin game, rain and all. Patsy and party have a slight wreck on return trip, but arrive saying, glt Has loads of fun, and the car's insured! Dance in the gym tonight, enjoyed y a . 6-Some of us went to the Civic Music Concert, trying for a little extra education. I fear many of our less art-minded students prefer swing-and truthfully-doesn't everybody? 9-Free entertainment these days, what with a new crop of dogs around. We especi- ally appreciated Buddy's interpretation of Heart-and-Soul. 10-On this bright Saturday Jane Wood disposed of Hodges for good. Seems they went hunting with their little rifles, and jane shot a hole through our Frank's trousers. just ask him and he'll show you! 16-Dramatic Club Play tonight. Orchids to Miss Kaderli for really good direction. Kimbrew and Dorothly Ulin got a little carried away at one point and slightly added to the action. nd with Sue Jeane watching from the side-lines! 19-Another week-end finished-And with each one it becomes more apparent that nobod in these parts rivals Helen Huff's dancin . Take a bow, Huflie! 21--Schoolxs out for Christmas! All our mercenary fimmes dash home and write sticky letters to long forgotten boy friends. J . s 2 ack again after glorious holidays. Feb. 11-The good old Student Council comes across with a dance to raise much-needed funds-Bernie shines as usual, but no funds- F eb. 16-Wilkie's off today even more than usual, and all desk-pounding is echoed by his colleague GJ Mr. York. Feb. 20-Excitement over chain-gang rides dying down but students still mutter in their beards at the apparent disloyalty on the part of the faculty to the late Georgy Wash- ington. His birthday coming up and no sign of a holiday. Feb. 22-Among ot er things to happen at a certa' , ul Lights Out party tonight. Berry G. and Mau . . s ea y. S. Remaining Neutral Subject Of Myer's Address Doctor W. D. Myers from S.M.U. delivered an address on the impor- tance of the United States remaining neutral in the present war in Eu- rope, in assembly, Tuesday, February T. Doctor Myers pointed out, by var- ious illustrations of today's crisis in Germany. Spain. and Italy, the dif- ferent ends the U. S. A. has to gain by remaining neutral in the present war which predominates Europe. The fact that some gain from the wars which usually infcst the country shows the evil that war can create. Doctor Myers declared that since high school pupils are the coming generation. it is up to them to stop this horrible menace by not import- ing or exporting anything that would help to prolong this war and to see that the United States does not be- come involved. The Lobos held a three point lead well into the final period. but a bril- liant Tiger offensive drive in the closing moments left the Texarkana boys ahead at the final whistle. Left forward Bixley sparked the Tiger offense with six consecutive charity tosses. Bixley was also the big noise in the Texarkana defense. He was constantly hampering the Lobo guards and time after time he broke up Lobo scoring threats. Ross Chapin was the outstanding Lobo offensive threat. He :hot two field goals and two charity tosses for a total of six points. Captain William Knox played his usual bang-up dc- fensive ganie for thc Lobos. break- ing up several Tiger drives.
