' Dedic fam He gets you psyched to sing, which is not only an educational tool, but a psychological lift. -Michelle Morey Over the past ten years cho- ral director, jazz conductor, and Drama Club director Mi- chael Mucci has made an im- pact on Longmeadow High School that can not be mea- sured in words. His musicals such as Oli- ver , Camelot , and Grease have been ac- claimed as The best in the high school ' s history and were perennial sellouts. As the school ' s director of the Boston Globe Drama Festival entry, Mucci has reached the state finals for three consecutive years. Last year The Hasty Heart finished fourth out of 75 entries. As a jazz band director Mucci has brought home several All- State titles for LHS and is regarded as the best conductor in the state. Under his instruction, instrumentalists such as Robert Ra- vosa and Robert Soltz have garnered Most Valuable Player awards. Perhaps Mr. Mucci ' s impact is best seen through his relation- ships with students. There is never a moment when his office is empty. Students look to him for guidance in dramatics, music, and personal affairs. To anyone who has worked with him, it is clear that Mr. Mucci is not only a dedicated instructor but a true friend. His devotion to our school was tested this past fall when he chose to tackle a musical while persuing his Master ' s degree at UMASS. Two weeks into the musical, Mucci suffered appendicitis, and was hospitalized for one week. After his release, still barely able to walk, he returned to rehearsals. Directing from his lounge chair and with the use of a microphone, he ignored his pain for the good of the play. Mike Mucci has dedicated the past ten years of his life to the students of LHS. For this dedication, the 1988 Masacksic is dedi- cated to him. Thank you Mr. Mucci for all you do! Class of 1988 Top Right-LET ' S HEAR THAT AGAIN, I THINK YOU ' VE GOT ITI-Concert Chorus teacher Mr. Mucci smiles at one of his students comments. Left-THERE HAS GOT TO BE A BETTER WAY- Mr. Mucci goes over the Grease script with pro- ducer Stephanie Wiseman. Dedication 1
