Elliott Coach Elliott again demonstrated his un- usual ability as a coach when with an inex- perienced squad and few veterans to work with he built a football team capable of sev- eral upsets. In basketball Coach Elliott turned out a club which easily took the Regional Tourna- ment for the third successive year. In his first year at Kearney, Mr. Elliott took his team to the finals in the State Basketball Tourna- ment. Coach Elliott was an outstanding player at the University of Nebraska for several years and is one of the best basketball coaches in the state. His size and ability to catch passes made him very valuable to the team. Swan was one of the most faithful workers on the team and was con- stantly striving to improve himself. ASHER THOMAS- Ash made his letter as an end. Although he was tried in the backfield his ability to catch passes, block and go down under kicks caused him to be shifted back to end and kept there. ALBERT WHITE- Al made his first letter in football as a half- back. Necessity made him play most every position in the backfield and he did it very creditably. Al is big and fast and was one of the best blockers on the squad. He and Yarnal should make a great pair of backs next season. MILFORD VVISEMAN-- Milf made his letter as a tackle and guard. Milf developed steadily and was one of the outstanding linemen by the end of the season. He was quick to size up the opponents' plays and was seldom blocked out. We only wish he was with us another year. DALE YARNAL-Dale developed into a first class line plunger. Already the boys are predicting how much he will average on his plunges next season. Yamal is big and has a deceptive change of pace. His ability to back up the line has also brought him much deserved praise. We expect big things of Dale next year. NO CAPTAIN. By a majority vote of the players of Kearney High School it was decided that no captain would be elected for various sports, but would be appointed by the coach at the beginning of each game for the year 1932-33.
