Our years at Long Prairie High School, with their joys and sor- rows, their successes and failures, are at an end. Yet, if this be the end, it is also the beginning, for we are setting out on a new life. One that will not be easy. We will, however, begin this life fortified and enriched by four years of close friendship and association with our High School. The friendships we have made, the knowledge we have acquired, the experiences which we shall forever cherish-- all these have become a part of us, as we have be- come a part of them. They shall make us strong. It is our sincere hope that this book will help in some way to keep bright the store of memories with which our last year at Long Prairie High School has provided us. 3 11 our Motliun ,iiid I 111111 Ns1O5L iiiurn 1 i11v1 bLL111111i1L 1111prc1vg111L11r of our livu who L img Lllld C11Cour1ga1111111 lime bun lll :iw 1111111 po 11 1 tin L four mar 111 1 11 M1001 1. rmpgutully 114111111 TNI. CLASS MEMORIES School days in Long Prairie High School are now just a memory for the graduating class of 1959. Some of the high-lights of the past three years are: As green freshmen we came from many different schools to begin working together as one great class. Our president was Robert Hart. Charles Reichert and Jackie Tesch were elected Prince and Princess of Hearts. In the spring we presented our one act play and a variety show. John Nemanich, Jr. was our sophomore class president. November was the month for the traditional Harvest Hop. At the last minute we were begging and borrowing white napkins to put into the chicken wire. JoAnn Putzkey and Bob Parker were King and Queen of the Harvest Hop. That year Swede Knase was elected to be the Valentine King. When we were Juniors, bake sales, selling Christmas cards, car washes, and many other projects were under- taken to raise money. Ralph Cowdery was elected to lead us that year. We put on the Valentine Party. Ralph Cowdery and Mary-Ann Knapp represented our class as candidates for King and Queen of Hearts. On April 18th and 19th we presented our class play Headin' for the Hills. There were times when the cast was laughing louder than the audience! Then came the big social evening of the year-prom! After much deliberation we selected as our theme Evening in Paris. Again we stuffed white napkins into chicken wire, and made stars until we were blue in the face. Many minutes were spent patching holes in the blue cheesecloth. The Admirals from St. Cloud State provided us with music. May 27th found us sporting new jewelry--our class rings had FINALLY arrived! Charles Reichert and Diane Olson attended Boys' and Girls' State. For our last year in high school we moved into the new addition to our school. We elected Ralph to his second term as class president. ln November we participated in our last Homecoming. Her Majesty Gail Scherer reigned over the football game, Long Prairie vs. Park Rapids. Our Homecoming slogan was Put a tuck in the bucks. After many headaches concerning stage properties and much worry about costumes we proudly presented She Stoops to Conquer. It was the first play to be presented on the new stage. After Thanksgiving vacation we were measured for caps and gowns. During Christmas vacation we sponsored the Sno Ball. For this formal dance the music was furnished by the Moon Misters from St. Johns. In May we were honored guests at the Prom. During the last days of school we were busy exchanging graduation pictures, signing annuals, and taking final examinations. All too soon the big day came. We were the first class to have its commencement exercises in the new gymnasium.
