X X. K r . . 34 3 i X In sincere appreciation of his generous service as athletic director of the Long Prairie High School, we, the seniors of 1952, dedicate this annual to MR. PETER SAJEVIC! For the past three years Mr. Sajevic has trained the minds and bodies of our boys. preparing them to meet competition with a healthy spirit of sportsmanship. Since Mr. Sajevic has spent many hours working with members of our class, we wish to share the memories of our high school years with him in a special way. After graduation we will long remember the sunny classrooms, big games, and gay dances. We will remember the dark halls crowded with schoolmates dear in our memories and glimpses of the proud brick building we lived in so long. We will remember the many, many events and faces -- our many years. Therefore. we will try to show you our happy years in Long Prairie High School. 4646 View 766ng4, 369 1-fowl Small. The was auditorium was suddenly hushed R as the Fruetel twins, Carol and E Gary, followed by the five queen candidates and their escorts, led the way to the stage. As each c ouple reached the stage the twins brought each escort a crowr with which he crowned his partner a princess. V Following the coronation service and cheers by the student 6 body, the women teachers, as darkies , presented a skit. Peter, 5 . Peter Sajevic, was the cryl Their darkened faces and big gloves were most becoming. Immediately following the pep fest, school was dismissed and work was begun on the field and the armory in prepara- tion for the Dig game and dance. Hundreds of balloons added to the already effective decora- tions. 3 After the evening bonfire and pep fest, a parade through main street was the big event. Each of the princesses rode in an open convertible, a striking spectacle indeed! The parade wound its way to the athletic field, and as the princesses took their places on the 50-yard line, the game began. The Indians were most spirited and showed their will to win throughout the first half. The big moment of the evening came between the halves. Amid the rolling of drums and the cheering ofthe crowd, last year's queen crowned Mary Norris, queen of the 1951 home- coming festivities. After a striking performance by the L.P.H.S. marching band, the game was reslumed. The Indians fought gallantly and, as a present to Queen Mary and the princ- esses, ' ey defeated a tough Sauk Centre team 13 to 6. ' 5 We, the graduating class of 1952, can now look back upon our fruitful years in L, P, H, S. Only seven of us -- Lois Minette, Audrey Meyers, Mary Lee Carlson, Mary Norris, Richard Dirschel, Inez Wirth, and James Thomas -- attended all twelve years to- gether. In the sixth grade, Bob Currie began his reign as dictatorfclass presidentj which continued throughout high school. Clayton Parker relieved him of his duty for our junior year. In 1945, as freshmen coming from many different grade schools, we all began to work together and became a partof one great class. As sophomores, we entered into the senior high school look- ing for new adventures and less work. We found the new adven- turesl The sophomore boys were given the honor of serving at the Junior-Senior Banquet, while the girls were hat check and punch girls. We began our junior year by presenting our class play, 'Our Hearts Were Young and Gay, under Miss Martell's direction, It was a great success, Amid all this we sold Christmas cards and put on a terrific carnival. We were the first class to receive our rings in the spring and they are something we will always treasure. Then it was Promtime and we plunged into the frenzy of pre- paring the ballroom and banquet. The theme Rhapsody in Blue' was carried out effectively in the colors, blue and silver. Seniors! That final stretch, that final year! For many ofus it was like just another school year, As we progressed,we found we were busy with homecoming, our last football game ofhigh school, our last Christmas concert, and the huge project ofan annualwhich started before Thanksgiving. Finally, we put on our senior play, 'Our Town, again directed by Miss'Martell. This, too, was a splendid success. On February 19 we presented a 'Variety Show, In May we were the honored guests at the Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom, Intermingled with all these activities were graduation pictures, announcements, and the signing of annuals. Finally the big day came, We slowly made our way down the aisle to receive our diplomas and regretfully said our last fare- wells to friends in the halls of Long Prairie High School, N 2 Z 7 fa X X 35 .
