The choir presented programs et the P,T.A, as well as the Rural Teachers' Institute. An Operetta and a Christmas program were also given by the members of the choir, To climax the year they attended the District Music Festival at Glenwood. The band marched at all home football games, as well as the game at Melrose where they marched with the Melrose Band. Other activities as a marching band included leading the Halloween and Memorial Day parades. Don Schinske presided as master of ceremonies, The high light was the crowning of the queen, Lois Erickson, by the football captain, Bob Gossler. Her attendants were Betty Dilts and Helen King, with Master John Nemanich as crownbearer. Lois and her attendants received corsages from the senior class. Between halves of the game that even1ng,the queen and her attend- ants marched down the field with the band, Long Prairie defeated Osakis. After the game a dance was given in the gymnasium to which the alumni were lnvlted. Refreshments were served by the senior class. PROM One of the high lights of the Junior year was the entertaining of the senior class and faculty members at a banquet and promenade on May 5, 1945. A rainbow theme was used to decorate the entire gymnasium. After dinner,wh1ch was served by twelve sophomore girls, entertainment was given by school students, Featured were the girls' trio and Don Schlnske. Music was provided by the Blue Derbles Orchestra, and card games provided entertainment for those who did not dance. THE KID nThe Kid' was presented to the public by the Junior class of 1944-45, It was the story of a typical American family. The father had his business worries and the children were doing something they weren't supposed to do. Everything turned out all right when Teddy saved his father in a business deal, Miss Lutness directed the play. The cast included Florian Lange Helen Kirg , Willard McGuire, Martha Ann Minette, Beverly Busacker, Herman Hasselbring, Wanda Pagel, Edward Bruce and Faith Wildman. Elda Bliese was the student director, THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE A Gilbert and Sullivan operetta, nThe Pirates of Penzance,' was given by members of the a capella choir, under the direction of Miss orls Larson. The story concerns Frederic, the son of a nobleman, who became apprenticed to a pirate band until his 21st birthday. After falling in love with Mabel, youngest daughter of Major-General Stanley,he prepare to lead the policemen against the pirates, However, he f1nds.out that since he was born on the 29th of February in leap year he is really only 51 years old.
