51 Class Hlstory Our class as Freshmen broke the 1ce w1th fourteen members To start the year off wzth a bang we elected offxcers 111 the early part of September The of flcers were Presldent Charlotte Stemke V1ce Pres1dent Mary Sue Garretson Secretary Beverly Stemke and Treasurer Bud Kam1nke Our class advisor was Lawrence Chnstopher Our only event as Freshmen was the Freshman Return Party m the form of a wlener roast We zoomed off to our Sophomore year w1th four new members now makmg a class of ezghteen The new members were Alberta Kmkade and Arlene who transferred from Cornell Hxgh School and Charlotte Brucker from Colfax Follow mg the usual routme we elected our off1cers Pres1dent Charlotte Stemke Vlce Presldent Mary Sue Garretson Secretary and Treasurer Alberta Kmkade Class Adv1.sor Mr Husted Thzs year the long awazted tune came to enjoy 1n1t1at1.ng the Freshmen and we took full advantage of It The slate of ofhcers to start our .Tumor year was Presrdent Charlotte Stemke Vice Presldent Beverly Stemke Secretary Mary Sue Garretson Treasurer Bud Kammke Class Advxsor Mrs Mary Flahaven Durmg the summer R1chard Spraggon moved leavlng our class w1th seventeen members Later 111. the year we lost another member Donald Gueldenhaar The f1rst exc1t1ng day for us as Junzors was that day ln October 1.n which we recewed our class rlngs On Novem ber 4th we presented our .Tumor Play Boardxng School At all the home basket ball games we had a lunch room and check room and we also started somethmg new by renting a popcorn machme and sellmg fresh popcorn at the games, then as our spring event we gave an Aprxl Fool s Dance At the end of the year came our bxg event the Junxor Sen1or Prom The Sen1or year we started w1th the feelmg we were at last on our homestretch Much to our sorrow we lost three members of the class to the Flanagan H1ghSchoo1 Dxstrlct' Nita Saxton Arlene Oldenburg and Kenneth Schell Our slate of offlcers was Presrdent Carol Gall Vice Presmdent Bud Kamlnke Secretary Beverly Stemke Treasurer Greta Ellls Class Adv1sor Mrs Wheeler The class decided by a unanunous vote to pubhsh an annual th1s year Charlotte Stemke was elected edltor of the varlous act1v1t1es Sxnce we decxded to dedxcate It to Mr and Mrs Rogers Cumm1ng a mus1cal theme was chosen In the late fall we gave our Sen1or play Cradle Troubadour Durlng the year the class gave two square dances to help raise money for he new stage curtam wh1ch the class declded as their g1ft to the school Smce we knew we alone could not buy the curtams yet were able to pay for half of them the Board of Educatmn helped us to swing the deal Our class colors are maroon and yellow, our flower IS the carnat1on and our motto IS The Begmnmg Not The End Thus wxth our Class N1ght we proceed on our road of l1.fe Edltor Charlotte Stemke , 1 0 4 I . , . . 1 ' ' . . . . . . . . 1 , 1 ' 1 1 .
