In Dedication ' W' MRS. DORIS CULVER ' A 'MVIS- 18' It is with great pride that the Senior class of l958 dedicates this book to our beloved Mrs. Doris Culver. Having been the faculty adviser of both the yearbook and our newspaper, Skyline, Mrs. Culver has devoted much time and energy to these publications. Thus, our gratitude represents not only the present Senior class, but it embodies also the thank-you's of past Seniors who owed their outstanding yearbooks and newspapers to the able guidance of Mrs. Culver. ln these years she has always modestly refused all public recognition of her endless efforts, and therefore has never been adequately thanked. One of the few remaining Charter Members of Long Island City High, Mrs. Culver has resisted offers from other schools in order to stay with the pupils for whom she shows such high regard. She has found the years of working with seniors on Plaza and Skyline both a worthwhile and gratifying experience. The results of her efforts always set the high standard which we hope to meet this year, The past staffs of both publications have learned from her shining example not only the ways and means of publishing, but also cooperation with fellow members. Long after Plaza will be but a part of high school memories the latter trait will remain part of them, and us, as the living proof that the goal for which she aimed was successfully reached. Today, as always, her gay, friendly personality and winning smile have made our Mrs. Culver the pride of the students and the faculty alike. Beloved by all who have come in conact with her, Mrs. Culver will live in the memory of her pupils not only as an inspiring teacher, but as a true friend. To you, Mrs. Culver, in gratitude we dedicate Plaza 1958.
