W. C T,. U. This spring Long Creek High Sc3x»ol held its annual W C T.U. Contest with six speakers giving gigpealing selections concerning the harmful effects of alcoholic beverages. Isahelle Caldwell, a monber of the senior class, was this year awarded the silver medal and a cash pr.i: .e of five dollars. Pe gy Casli on was chosen as runner xjp with a cash prize of three dollars, and -junQ Wilson won third place with a cash award of two dollars,. in OUT- high school we now have a pearl medal winner Mary Edna Hooker., and an additional silver aiid gold medal winr.er., Dorothy Hart She later competed in the ' coimty contest, and won the gold medal . Then as now we had attended a program for the development of citizenship achievenent, and leadership. originally our club was composed of eight members with Dorothy Hart as president. Bessie Hinson. Vice president. Kathleen Stuart,, Secretarj Treasure, with Dal ton Parker, Charles Russell Cleve Dick, Joyce Auten, and Marcus prince, the other maabers- Later, four additional ra Hnbers, who were selected by the club and given faculty approval, were brought intx) raoiibership , they are- Madeline Black,, Helen Hatley, Clifford Stuart , and Mary Clayton Edwards- Before the end of this ol term we plan to admit four more members Mrs. Frank Lawing is our sponsor. r DEBATING TEAW T viT o girls,;, Dorothy Hart and Peggy C a s h i o n entered the triangular debate last year which is held annually at Catawba Colleger MFc Atkins who was a seasoned debator during his high school and College years coached the team.
