Practice Preparation Produce Professional Band Concert A The Trumpet Section thrills the audience with their rendition of Leroy Anderson’s ATrumpeter’s Lullaby. ▲ The upbeat notes of Clenn Ossei’s Studio One were enhanced by the percussion sections. ▲ Mr. Risden directs the woodwinds, flutes, clarinets, and saxophones in the lilting “Overture for Winds.” How many hours of preparation go into creating a successful band concert? 10? 20? 30? It’s way over 100 hours! That’s how hard the LBHS Symphonic Band practices to achieve their goal — the Annual Spring Concert which held on May 9.1986. Mr. Gerald Risden, band director, was justifiably proud of his talented musicians. The entire band also performs at Senior Chapel, graduation, football games, and local parades and civic functions. Sophomore Carnival Sets Financial Success Record! ▲ Mr. Don Covin A Mrs. Michaeline Odom A Mr. Butch Odom A Dwane Logan. Stanly Gola A Hilary Epstein. Lisette Feliciano Children Of All Ages Eat, Drink and Have Fun, Fun, Fun The Class of 1988’s Sophomore Carnival was a huge financial success, and, fun, too! On May 23, 1986. after many long hours of preparation, the Sophomores were rewarded with an overwhelming profit of over $1700.00. This is the largest amount of money made in the history of the Sophomore Carnival! The Carnival is the major fund-raiser for tenth grade students. ▲ Soloist Joselin Durand rehearses the ever-popular “Memories. from the hit show “Cats. with Miss Miller. Choral Music Department Concert Features City-Wide Talent A Miss Miller rehearses Kris Rainbow as she hits the high notes in ' Please Mr. Postman. The Choral Department, under the aegis of the Department of Visual and Performing Arts, presented its Annual Spring Concert on May 30. 1986. Miss Stacy L. Miller directed the musical presentation. The high school participants are divided into several groups. They are: Chamber Choir. Men of Note. Chanson, and the All-City School Choir. Many students sing in more than one group. Also included in the Spring Concert are children from the local elementary schools. They were directed by Mary Randazzo. George Marucci, |anet Miles, and Betty Bittner. The large audience was treated to a variety of musical selections ranging from Hello. Dolly” to Amazing Grace.” Student soloists were singers David Pachecho and Carlo Durland. Pianist Christine Calver played Chopin's Minute Waltz. A Members of the t.BHS Choir: David. Carlo. Cathy, lose. Chris. Kris. Vanessa and Michael join Miss Miller for an impromptu moment.
