Lisette Feliciano Children Of All Ages Eat, Drink and Have Fun, Fun, Fun The Class of 1988’s Sophomore Carnival was a huge financial success, and, fun, too! On May 23, 1986. after many long hours of preparation, the Sophomores were rewarded with an overwhelming profit of over $1700.00. This is the largest amount of money made in the history of the Sophomore Carnival! The Carnival is the major fund-raiser for tenth grade students. Featured was a marriage booth that gave couples a chance to try marriage. If the marriage did not succeed a divorce decree was ready and waiting. There was a “Wheel of Fortune” run by Coach Odom, and a Pie toss, both were very popular. The “Pick-a-Duck booth was popular with the younger kids. Practice Preparation Produce Professional Band Concert A The Trumpet Section thrills the audience with their rendition of Leroy Anderson’s ATrumpeter’s Lullaby. ▲ The upbeat notes of Clenn Ossei’s Studio One were enhanced by the percussion sections. ▲ Mr. Risden directs the woodwinds, flutes, clarinets, and saxophones in the lilting “Overture for Winds.” How many hours of preparation go into creating a successful band concert? 10? 20? 30? It’s way over 100 hours! That’s how hard the LBHS Symphonic Band practices to achieve their goal — the Annual Spring Concert which held on May 9.1986. Mr. Gerald Risden, band director, was justifiably proud of his talented musicians. The entire band also performs at Senior Chapel, graduation, football games, and local parades and civic functions.
