If our graduation should strike you with a touch of finality, it is merely finality of mission, not purpose. Now still more lies ahead in the future years of schooling and each of these years grows more and more important as time goes on. For in the future you will fully realize the true meaning of these lines from Dante: Consider that this day ne'er dawns again. Throughout the past three years, I have watched you grow in stature, advance in knowl- edge and acquire poise and social graces. These have been important and productive years. During this time, you have had to make many important decisions and you have assumed numerous new responsibilities. You have done all of this well. Yours is the last class to have been with us as students at the Lido Junior School and you have had the experience of being in a school that changed from a two year Junior School to a full-fledged three year Junior High School. It would be impossible to spend three years together without having a feeling of great closeness. You have been our day time family and each morning as I greeted you, I have thought of you as my children. During this time, we have shared many moments of joys and sorrows. I shall recall with pleasure the manyf sports events and the social events which we have enjoyed together. We have also shared in one of the most tragic events in the history of our country. I shall never forget that sad afternoon when we received word of the untimely death of our beloved President. You left the building in shocked silence with the dignity that the mournful occasion warranted. We shall always remember where we were and what we were doing when that message reached us. When you leave, you will bring to a close the final chapter of our Junior School history. When we moved, we discovered that it mattered not which school we were in as long as we were all together. While you were here, we have tried to give you the educational background that will be helpful to you in the future. You came to us as eager, starry-eyed children with keen anticipation and high hopes for your new school experience. During your stay here, your anticipation became a reality and most of your hopes have been fully realized. We now send you on as young adults with new hopes and anticipation but still with the stars in your eyes. As you go on to new educational experiences, you have my fondest good wishes for continued success. May all your dreams come true and may your future be bright and happy. Very sincerely yours, M. Genevieve Kelly Principal MGK: dh i 5 J ug Q51 UE'-I mg kg :eww QT Qi 1 1 Q11 xl I CS-1 , 1 SLIPERI TE DE T It gives me great pleasure to offer sincere congratulations to the ninth grade class at our Junior High School. To the students, faculty and yearbook staff go our very best wishes for success in all educational endeavors. The Aurora or beginning of real education will now come to our students following the exploration of junior high. As each goes forth to senior high, college and the school of life, the dawn of inquiry, which we now commend as part of junior high experience, will always be held dear to heart. EARL F. I do not shrink from this responsibility--I welcome it. I do not believe that any of us would exchange places with any other people or any other generation. The energy, the faith, the devotion which we bring to this endeavor will light our country and all who serve it--and the glow from that fire can truly light the world . . . With a good conscience our only sure reward, with history the final judge of our deeds, let us go forth to lead the land we love, asking His blessing and His help, but'knowing that here on earth God's work must truly be our own. 7 -f -for x Guidance Ave et Vale! Hail and Farewell! To our gradu ates the members of the Guidance Department extend sincerest congratulations and best wishes in all your future endeavors. It is our hope that you will constantly strive to live up to the principles and ideals inculcated in your minds and hearts while attending the Junior High School. In doing so you will be a credit to your family, your country and your God. 513533 RIGHT: John F. Ryan. LOWER RIGHT: Leonard C. Remo. BELOW: Bernice Mayer. f ' V if 'eww iff Q it ,fyfxvm ' xx AXE! Under the direction of Mr. Michaelis and Mr. Sweeney, this year's G.O. has been an outstanding success. To some stu- dents the G.O. stands for General C' ' F Organization, but for most students this m year, G.O. stands for GO. Under the competent leadership of Mr. Glynn, the Civics Forum Club is designed to give our students the opportunity to be heard. At each meeting students express their views on the local, national and international scene to share with their classmates. 58 For the first time, this school has had an authentic N school newspaper, the Surf-Sound. It filled the need for aspiring journalists to express themselves, and was a fine medium for informing the students and faculty about all activities in our school. Drama Q This year, our newly formed math team, under Mr. Finn and Mr. Avenoso, marched into battle, and emerged victorious. In competition with over 40 schools, our team surprised everyone by finishing very high in the standings. Although this is the first year of our math team, the record it set will last.
