An amendment to the constitution was adopted allowing the president to be a candidate for re-election. The name of the col- lege newspaper was changed from the Figurehead to the Viking. Officers were as follows: - - President Vice-President Secretary - - . - Treasurer - - Representative of Arts - Representatives of Athletics Representative of the Student Body - - Editor of the Viking - Adviser Bill Davis - Mary McMilla11 Nellie DeWitte Joseph Bobbitt Margaret O'Connor Hugh Linnell - Walter Miller - Eva Geiger - Charles W. Library Department English Department TO THE FACULTY Behind any honor that the Junior College may attain, behind its ath- letic achievements, its forensics, its social activities and academic ac- complishments, there lies the guiding force which makes such advance- ment possible Without it there could be no college, for alone the student body would be as a ship without an engine, a violin without a bow. To all intents and purposes the instrument would appear com- pleteg and not until someone wished to sail the ship, to play the violin, would that smaller, but more intrinsically valuable part be missed. . The high tandard of achievement upon which its members have insist- ed has made the people proud of the Long Beach Junior College, and the true knowledge and understanding with which the students have been led to reach those standards have made them proud of the faculty. A ship complete because of its engine, a violin perfect be- cause of its bow. 7 .. ---, -- , ..5,.3.-.a:....--.x.-E.,-A-jx 'frflgez--. x uk. CABINET SECOND SEMESTER As a tribute to his efficiency, the student body cheerfully amended its constitution in order that Bill Davis might remain its president for the second semester, and then elected as his co-workers a cabinet which has been the most active the college has had since its inception. Not in the least among the factors which contributed to the second semester cabinet's success was the ever-ready advice and assistance of Mr. Jackson. He was in evidence at every affair which the council put under way, and at every cabinet meeting, always ready when problems needed solving. The cabinet has nothing but praise for Mr. Jackson. For the second semester members of the cabinet were: Bill Davis -------- President Margaret O'Connor Vice-President Joseph Bobbitt Secretary Hugh Linnell - Treasurer Dorothea Bell - Representative of Arts Al Davis - - Representative of Athletics Representative of the Student Body - - Editor of The Viking - Adviser John Fletcher - Marguerite Clark Charles W.
