John L. Lounsbury, principal, with his understanding and his keen foresight, has made possible the harmonious coopera- tion of 'the two institutions, and the ad- vantages that have come to the college. Dr. Ralph Bush, dean, possesses that rare spirit which is young enough to un- derstand and old enough to guide. Will- ing service has brought him the love and respect of all. It is Miss Mattie Paine, dean of women, who, with sincere helpfulness, straightens out the problems of the women of the college and finds time for lively interest in all their activities. To Miss Alta Wil- liams, counselor-registrar, goes every stu- dent for vocational guidance, for she thoroughly understands the problems rel- anive to courses. Ir has been the fortune of few new institutions to be inaugurated by leaders of broader scholarship, higher ideals, or a more comprehensive ability to master the big problems of instituting a junior college than the administrators of the Long Beach Junior College. Lastly, in considering those who have con- tributed to the success of this junior col- lege not ,only from the administrative stand-point but also from that of student body activities, one does not forget Miss Pearl Trauger, secretary to Dean Bush. 2
