Weniger, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Weniger of Wahpeton, North Dakota, was born and raised in the midwest, attending high school at St. John's Prep School, Collegeville, Minnesota. He enlisted in the Navy in 1958 and served as an Aviation Electronics Technician before acceptance into the Naval Scientific Educa- tion Program, subsequently graduating from the University of Idaho in 1963 with a Bache- lor of Science degree in Electrical Engineer- ing. Captain Weniger served onboard des- troyers as electronics material officer, combat information center engineer, and operations officer before serving a tour in Vietnam at the Naval Support Activity Detachment Binh Thuy. He later completed the course of instruc- tion at Nuclear Power School in Vallejo, Calif., and at the Nuclear Prototype in Idaho Falls, Idaho, prior to serving as main propulsion as- sistant on the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS ENTERPRISE QCVN-653 and as engineer officer of guided-missile cruiser USS TEXAS QCGN-395 during the ship's initial construc- tion and commissioning. Subsequent duty in- cluded a tour as executive officer of USS TRUXTON QCGN-35p and as commanding offi- cer of fast frigate USS HAROLD E. HOLT QFF- 10745. r -.. .,.., ..- A... . -.. .-............. ETNYRE EXEC TIVE OFFICER USS LO GBEACH CCG -91. Commander Etnyre was born in Spring- field, Ohio, and graduated from the Univer- sity of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He completed the Offi- cer Candidate School COCSJ at Newport, Rhode Island and was commissioned an En- sign on July 1971. Significant early assignments included duty Onboard the USS HAMMERBERG CDE 1015, in Naples, Italy, serving as damage control assistant, on the USS ENTERPRISE QCVN 653 as repair officer, and the Depart- ment Head Course at the Surface Warfare Officer School, Newport, Rhode Island. Following graduation in April 1980, Cdr. Etnyre reported to the USS MISSISSIPPI QCGN 403 serving as engineer officer. In October 1983 he reported as a member of the Nuclear Propulsion Examining Board Atlantic on the staff of the Commander-in- Chief, U.S. Atlantic Fleet. In February 1986, Cdr. Etnyre reported to the USS LONG BEACH QCGN-95 as Executive Officer. - Cdr. Etnyre is married to the former In- grid Elizabeth Grass of Warren, Michigan.
