Highlights Season Homecoming the Football The football season would not be complete without the festivities of Homecoming The costumes, bonfire, football game, parade, coronation and dance jammed the week with activities and fun. Spirit week is the traditional en- thusiasm builder for the festivities. The participation was better than ever! The bonfire-pep rally took place under a star-studded sky with ex- citement mounting as the big day approached Friday, October 16, brought sun- shine and warm weather to Lone Tree At 3:00, the sound of the band could be heard on Main Street and the crowd settled down to watch the floats and parade en- tries. The Senior Class won the float division with their theme Tee Pee the Indians. Wapello arrived in town to take the field against the mighty Lions. The game was tied at 14-14 with 1:48 remaining on the clock. It was the Lions' chance to break the bar- rier and come out on top Tony Krueger backed up to pass and launched a beauty to Steve Forbes, who ran it in for six. It was the most exciting game of the season The evening was not yet over as the music could be heard from the Rainbow Connection ballroom. Coach Thie announced the receipients of the King and Queen honors to )im lohnson and Sheri Burr. A perfect day, an exciting game, and a romantic conclusion made Homecoming '81 successful. Victory over the Wapello Indians, 20-14. This parade is so dog-gone exciting. The 1981 Homecoming theme: The Rainbow Connection. The 'Fighting Uons' are on the warpath. My name's Tex Rayner.
