FORMER MEMBERS--LEFT TO RIGHT: Mrs. Sievert, Advisor; Pat Dougherty. Pres.; Nancy Marine, V. -Pres.; Kathy Barton, Sec. -Treas.; Nancy Mills, Margaret Kirkpatrick. Honor Society The Lone Tree High School Gymnasium was the scene for the induction of nine new members, four seniors and five juniors, to the National Honor Society, Monday, March 6th. Following an introduction given by Mrs. Donald Sievert, chapter sponsor, present members gave short de- scriptions of the four qualities sought in members. Chapter president Pat Dougherty installed the new members. For each member a candle was lit from a central candle symbolizing the light of knowledge. The new mem- bers then recited the National Honor Society Pledge. The Honor Society was set up to recognize the student who excels scholastically. Students are chosen on the basis of character, scholarship, leadership, and service. Instead of the usual afternoon tea, an evening tea was held on Tuesday, March seventh, honoring the new members and their parents. Hostesses Margaret, Nancy, Nancy, Mrs. Sievert, Kathy, and Pat at the induction tea. NEW MEMBERS--SITTING: Alan Burr, Colleen Duffey, Bev Herring, Steve Hill. STANDING: Linda Ab- bott, Dale Hammons, Charles Haw- thorne, John Kirkpatrick, Roger Swanson.
