Mrs. Alyce Brown has been secretary to the superinten- dent at Lone Tree Community School for two years. Her day is filled with many varied jobs: writing letters, order- ing supplies, keeping lunch records, and sorting mail. Besides all this, Alyce still finds time to help students who come in with letter-writing and duplicating problems. For the first time this year, the grade school faculty mem- bers have the assistance of teachers-aids. While they can- not assume any of the teaching duties of the teachers, the aids perform a valuable service by helping with supervision, duplicating and related duties. Mrs. Rose Mary Lewis assists with grades one, two and three; Mrs. Lucille Green, with grades four, five, and six. Under the supervision of Mrs. Eleanora Hora, head cook, the hot lunch program once again got underway in Septem- ber. The meals are prepared with the combined talents of Mrs. Hora, Mrs. Louise Forbes, Mrs. Monna Flake, and Mrs. Iva Jarrard. The average daily attendance in the lunchroom is three hundred thirty-five students. With seven buildings to clean besides the high school and gym, our custodians, A1 Kinkaid and Bill Riggan, are kept busy. In addition. Bill drives a regular school bus route; and both men spend the noon hour bringing students from the other buildings to the lunchroom in the high school building. As if that were not enough, they also lend a help- ing hand when faculty or students have odds and ends that need to be done. Early in the morning and late in the afternoon, the school bus drivers take on the responsibility of transporting the country students to and from school. This year’s bus driv- ers are Edward Bachman, Bill Riggan, Ralph Slaughter, Robert Dickey, and Lester Bell.
