With bad luck pounding their heels, the locals metered to Lime Ridge for their re turn game. After a futile attempt to stage a last quarter rally, Lone Rook was beaten 25 15 The Pagers new went out for some strenuous practice t o first half, the boys kept pace with their opponents In time the pace proved too fast, and we were defeated 28 19 Spur red on by their many losses, the locals traveled to Avoea tent on winning. The Blue and White led by a margin thremgx out most of the game, and staving off a last minute rally by fvoca, wen by the close margin of 26 24 The next opponent was Ithaca, the game was to be played on their court. At this time Ithaca was tied for first place in the conference, and the locals were picked to play them a tough game. Achieving a lead in the first quarter, the op penents Lept it, and with Lone Rock constantly missing th e hoop, they won. Cazenovia and Ithaca were still tied fo r first place when the Rael etoors met Cazonovia on the h ome hardwood. The first half was hard fought, with only a few buckets by either team. In the last period, Cazenovia seem ed to hit their stride and caged a number of baskets thatmde it too tough a road for Lone Rook to fellow. The game ended with the locals trailing. The Blue and White then met Blue River, whom they had previously beaten on the 1atter's floor. The locals were still trailing at the ond of the game. However, with their good shew- ing in non-conference games, Lone Rock was invited to the Prai- rie du sac tournament, but with their peer standing in th e league, they had to play an elimination game against S auk City. The boys were confident of a win ever a team that was supposedly of the same calibre as their own. Luck just Wasrft theirs that night, and they were beaten by a score of 18-16. The final hurdle of the conference race was with L one Roek's pet peeve , Museoda. The game was a fight from start to finish, with beth teams caging a number of points. Th e last three minutes of play found the locals trailing 27-50. Then with a spurt that put the fans on the floor, the score was tied, and a bucket neatly sunk by our senior Rocket, Vir- gil Evorsen, won the game. The final score was 34-52.
