CLASS P ROP!-IE CY Strange thxngs happen to us sometimes and mysterious grfts are apt to fall out of the everywhere 1nto our hands just when we least expect them I had said I would never agam be surprrsed at anythmg but when a newspaper dropped mto my lap from the very a1r about me I was w1ll1ng to take back the rash vow I had made and to my surprrse xt was the Lone Grove Advertxser and was dated June 30 1979 What could all thzs srgnxfy? I opened the paper hast1ly and from the records of thrrty years yet unborn here are some of the thmgs I read I noticed where a noble professor was gwuxg a dinner for some of h1s fnends Yes yes of course It was the Bob Cypert I knew How strange rt would seem to call hrm Professor Cypert In vrted to has dmner IS a talented muslclan who has thrllled the world It looks as 1f Fern Wallace has made the artxst I thought she would for here xt says she 15 an artmst of 8XC86dlI1g genms The headhnes of thrs paper was American forces led to victory by the gallant soldmer hero of the hour Gene ral Jack Word Here I see the picture of a farr lady It seems to me as though she was dlsappomted rn some love affair and has devoted her life to domg good 'for the world They now call her Sister Mar1a but she was once Kathryn Donham In the advertxsmg column I found that Elayne Janzen had fme Aralnan steeds for sale You know she always loved horses There was a p1cture of a stately prxest zn hzs robes of drgnlty It was Joe Wallace hxmself who had thus entered mto the work of the church My how thmgs have changed smce 49 I read a beautiful poem and found the author to be Mary Cummxngs 13 ll I0 ' ' with her harmony, You remember Rosemary Twyford, Iknow.

SENIORS OF 49 When the school year of 48 49 opened sixteen Seniors en rolled A week later two more arrived and second semester two more arrived to complete the 11st The officers elected for the class for the year were Bob Cypert Pres1dent Jack Word Vice President and Mary Cypert Secretary Treasurer The Senior Class held a combination baby show and one act play for the benefit of the lunch room They also entered in the Carnival Queen Race with Dorothy Clowdus and Bob Cypert as candidates for queen and king but they were defeated by the lowly seventh and eighth grades with Blanche Cypert as queen and Arlxe Beane as king On Sunday December 18 Mrs Nina Young the class spon sor gave a Christmas party for the Seniors at her home A deli Afterward the class went to church The Senxor Class Play was presented Ln the last week of April and the Junior Senxor Banquet was on the night of May 6 It had a western theme The boys were dressed in jeans and the girls in gingham dresses Gradu tion exercises were June 1 The class was fortunate 1n having a kind and helpful sponsor Mrs Nina Young who with her many duties as teacher took time out to help with the many difficulties that arose for the graduating Seniors The class color is red the class flower is the rose The class motto is While we live let us live 12 U 1 0 - - 1 . : I ' l : 1 I I 1 f D 1 ' ' . . . .- cious Christmas dinner was served, and then gifts were exchanged. . . . . i 5 . . . 9 I Y . : . . - ' , ll ' ' ' ID ' i 0

I read that B1lly Chambers was the head phys1c1an at the new hospital that had been bullt at Lone Grove There was a plcture of a beauttful new home that Aubrey Lewallen had built He IS now a wealthy cattleman I then read on the sports page where the Lone Grove g1r1s played ball that n1ght Their coach was Matt1e Fern Ke1th I turned then to read the funn1es I was surprxsed to see that B111 Long was the author of the com1c strxp A successful busmess man Gene M1xon had just returned from London I read there was to be a sale at the Modern Hat Shop The owners are Lenora Jones and Ima Jewell Gray I saw where Peggy Smxth had announced the marrxage of her daughter to a famous sclentxst There was an artzcle about the new lvlathematms teacher at Lone Grove Yes It IS Lucxlle Hollaway was leavmg for her vacatxon U1 Florzda I read where J'une Harr1s and Dorothy Clowdus had reached thexr goal an the1r nursmg career Both of thc m were workzng slde by slde U1 the famous Mayo Cl1n1c These are the thxngs I have found most mterestmg to me so I have been glad to pass them on to you and share wxth you the re markable fmd of mine that It may answer for you as sat1sfactor11y as It d1d for me the all 1mportant quest1on What 15 gomg to be come of the Class of 49? 14 A picture of Mary Cypert.
