Dedication K itchen Timer LHS for Africa Michael jackson There's no place like OM . . . The Vortex . . . Mexico . . . B.S. Buster . . . The time span is four years. The place is Londonderry High School. The year is 1986 and the new yearbook dedicatee is Ms. Joanne McGlynn. In the fall of 1982, Ms. McGlynn started at LHS as an inex- perienced, first year teacher. Through four years of hard work and perseverance, Ms. McGlynn has become one of the most respected teachers in the school. She has learned what makes the students tick. She can make a student work to his highest potential and still gain his respect. Joanne McGlynn is a dedicated teacher who cares about each individual. I decline to aecept the end of man. It if eafy enough to ray that man if immortal Jimply heeauxe he will endure: that when the la.rt ding dong of doom haJ flanged and faded from the last worthleff rock hanging tidelefr in the laft red and dying evening, that even then there will he one more found: that of hir puny inexhauftihle voire ftill talking. I refute to aeeept thif. I helieve that man will not merely endure: he will prevail. He if im- mortal, not heeaure he alone among ereaturef haf an inexhaurtihle voice, hut heeauJe he haf a Joul, a Jpirit eapahle of companion and .rarrgqfe and endurance. These were the words that William Faulkner used to accept the Nobel prize for literature in 1950. He feared that, in those difficult times, people were losing faith. In our time, as well, we have a choice to make between faith and despair. Working with you for four years has confirmed my decision to choose faith. Continue to share that spirit of compassion and sacrifice and endurance. Our world depends on it. Together, we can prevail. deff? 1958 1971 1985
