The London Bible Institute For the printing of a new book there should be an adequate reason, and for the conducting of o school there should likewise be an adequate cause Perhaps you have well asked, What is L,B.l, all about anyway ? It is with this in mind that we offer a few suggestions. ln this complex world with its increasing demands, a school of this nature must indeed be able to give a reason for the hope that is within it . L.B.l. is primarily designed to be o school of basic training in the Word of God. It aims there' fore, to equip the student with a practical knowledge of the Word as a foundation upon which to build in life, Foundations must be carefully laid, for the strength and serviceability of the superstructure dee pends upon them, Of one thing we are positivei there is no other foundation for life than that which is established in the Scriptures To build here is to build upon the Rock which secures the house from :ollopsing when the storms of skepticism, humanism, and despair sweep dawn upon it. Education without Christ cannot long endure, but alas, how many there are who would attempt to defy this eternal principle Thus it is that L.B,l, as but one of that large num- ber of Bible institutes and Bible colleges, seeks to meet the need in formulating Iife's purposes and pur- suits upon the authority of the eternal Ward From her halls have giine forth missionaries, carrying the message of redemption to the perishing millions of Africa, India, China, South America, the far north in the North West Territories, the lumber camps of Northern Ontario, the island world of the Caribbean and war-stricken and confused areas of Europe. This indeed is L.Bl,'s excuse for exis- tence . To prepare these ambassadors of Christ for this diplomatic service abroad, representing the Court af Grace, is no light responsibility Pray ye there fore the Lord of the harvest that He will thrust forth labourers int0 His harvest Someone has said, that, When an adult is won, a soul is saved, but when a child is wan, a whole life is saved. Much might be said regarding the exis- tence of a special department for Christian Education Suffice it to say that it makes the Christian faith the keystone of the educational arch with its specific endeavour in training young hearts for God's glad service, This service, porticularized, includes the im- portant responsibility :f winning children to o saving knowledge of the living Saviour in ways and means that follow Gods laws of nature lt also endeavours to prepare a leadership that will be ready to step into positions of respcnsibility such as. missionaries, home and abroad, pastor's wiveS, Bible teachers, children's workers and directors of Christian educae tion in the local churches L B l has such a depart- ment with farty-two enrolled Christ in you, the hope of glory we proclaim, warning every man and teaching every mon in all wisdom, that we present every man mature in Christ The Gospel ministry demands the best possible preparation Not all servants of the Cross are priviv leged to spend four years at a university and then an additional three years ot o seminary or theological college before entering upon thot which is eglled, the active ministry When such preparation is possible, it indeed seams ideal, but there is a very worthy army of those less privileged academically- These men, who being truly laid hold upon by the Lord, and limited to a short period cl preparation, must be assisted in their high and holy calling The Pastar's Course is designed to cxnpress the essentials ol the ministry into the narrow confines of three years, lt is directional to the student, charting for him meth- ods of study, introducing to him the tools ol sermon c nstruction, and mast of all, it is a cultivation of His own soul A survey of the evangelical ministry in almost ony geographical location will testify to the inspiration and blessing of the Bible institute and Bible college instruction. L.B,l thus dedicated to positive evangelical teaching ministry desires sincerely to make lull proof f that ministry . The measure of the Lard's blessing thus far eniayed is mast gratifying, but we would be reminded of the fact that the goal is still ahead Let us therefore run for the prize of the high calling of Gad in Christ Jesus H ,lean C, Scott, B A, Registrar Miss Scott cares for the many duties ase sociated with the office of Registrar. Super- vising the business matters relating to a student body of two hundred is a sizeable task. ln addition however, she als. acts as one of the instructors in the English Department, and as Secretary- to the Board of Directors department heads E. Ralph Hooper, M.D. ln his capacity as Dean of the Institute and Director of the Missionary Department, Dr Hooper gives to the school the benefits of his rich experience. A missionary statesman :if warldfwide repute, he has served in many fields around the globe. There are few men today who can look back over the years and recall as he can the meetings of famous preachers, teachers and evangelists for half a century His life, filled with the blessings of an extensive ministry, is indeed a benediction to all who know him. Luella l. Loewen, MA. John Honeyman, B.A. A graduate of the University of Western Ontario and Knox College, Toranta, Mr. Haney- man is the Superintendent of the Institute. ln addition, upon him devalves the responsibility of directing the Preparatory year, and that of instructing in Greek and Christian Evidences, His instruction leads the men of the Pastor's Course into the more profound truths of the Greek New Testament and he has contributed greatly toward our students' ability to refute effectively many af the erroneous philosophical ideologies prevalent today. Miss Lcewen came to the school this year as Director of the Christian Education Depart- ment. Educationally, she has her MA. in the field of Christian Education from Wheaton Col- lege and is a graduate fsom a State Teachers' College with several years' teaching experience. The evangelization and instruction of children requires specialized workers, and this course aims to pr vide qualified young people to meet the challenge. Although she has been with the school but a few months, Miss Loewen has demonstrated her qualifications for this task. faculty ' K U af Aggmmg In the ocoderwc -,ectlorw ft thi' aqhatttl cmrucutum, Mr Kenneth J Br vffti' t Q tjtnr1f,tn'5 Chrwtufm PUNK SChfml BA trtQr.fL Prmopol, ,, the m5frUgyt.r rn French H11 - Om-, tr, tt, Qfrwtdy the student wth Q wvrl--ftg Fur the bcllever thus' rw rw t .gut mt rt tp, tw the uuthentncnty ond Cracinbttrtf. tt thy Sfvtg tures, yet ony Confnrmgtttm gwriwxu- tn nw, regard us of specngl Intern-xr Mr R M VVtn IOWK CIGSSC5 In ArChGCulogx Ktnrww Hwy Ntuthnt- how God, In H15 wudrmnw, ho' pr. guy! tx wr new tO Himself nn the Onttqu tu fn-N thot Qxnsted In Buble tmws :tu . Hear, my sons, the instruction of a father, And attend to know understanding: For I give you good doctrine: Forsake ye not my law. For I was a son unto my father, Tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother, And he taught me, and said unto me: Let thy heart retain my words, Keep my commandments. and live, Get wisdom, get understanding, Forget not, neither decline from the words of my mouth, Forsake her not, and she will preserve thee, Love her, and she will keep thee. Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom, Yea, with all thy getting get understanding Exalt her, and she will promote thee, She will bring thee to honor, when thou dost embrace her She will give to thy head a chaplet to thee. A crown of beauty will she deliver to thee. Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings, And the years of thy life shall be many I have taught thee in the way of wisdom, I have led thee in paths of uprightness. When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened, And if thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble, Take fast hold of instruction, let her not go: Keep her, for she is thy life. The path of the righteous is as the dawning light, That shineth more and more unto the perfect day. My son, attend to my words, Incline thine ear unto my sayings. Let them not depart from thine eyes, Keep them in the midst of thy heart. For they are life unto those that find them, And health to all their flesh. Keep thy heart with all diligence, For out of it are the issues of life. Put away from thee a wayward mouth, And perverse lips put far from thee. Let thine eyes look right on, And let thine eyelids look straight before thee. Make level the path of thy feet, And let all thy ways be established. Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: Remove thy foot from evil.
