The year 1982-83 was an eventful one for Central ' s Music Dept. Throughout the year we managed to rehearse and perform some fascinating music while still main- taining our respective sanities. The year began on an entertaining note as witnessed by the busload of students who braved the ride to Toronto and were richly rewarded by the music and elaborate staging of the opera The Magic Flute . The period from mid October until Christmas was rapidly consumed by the tremendous effort put forth by all those music students who made our Grapefruit Campaign such a financial success. They built two mountains - one of Grapefruit, one at the bank! The winter saw a flurry of activity as we faced long hours of rehearsals in preparation for the school show, Little Mary Sunshine , and our Alumni Hall concert, Variety Is . . . The new year also brought with it a renewed enthusiasm in the school choir, which grew in mem- bership and ability. The last few months of the year flew by as one event succeeded another. The success of our Kiwanis Music Festival soloists prepared us for the highlight of the year - our senior exchange trip to Ottawa. All those who dragged themselves out of bed at ridiculously early hours for morning rehearsals, helped to make the school year one of much progress and achievement. In exhaustion we worked together and saw things through. Make a joyful noise. MUSIC
