A Glimpse of Something New Computer Club With the advent of the computer science courses at Central this year, the Computer Club has come out of hiding. It is an informal group headed by Mr. Computer Man Cowx and three executives. President Craig Cud- more described the club as consisting of forty to fifty regular members and about thirty odds and ends . A gleam appeared in Craig ' s eye as he said, Our cardinal rule is No eating in the computer room; we don ' t want chips in our chips! ' . Vice-president Bruce Chapman and Secretary Judy Payne fill the other two executive positions. The club gives computer club members and other students of the school time to use the computers. To be a regular member, all you have to do is show up for your scheduled time, explains Judi, who sets up the schedules. Trips to local computer fairs are hoped for this year, but the matter is being played by ear . Judi concluded with an en- couraging statement: We ' re having a great year and I hope everyone comes back! Computer Club Executive FRONT ROW: Craig Cudmore. ROW TWO: Mr. Cowx, Bruce Chapman, Judi Payne. tf H Art Council FRONT ROW: Alison Williams, Ayumi Ba illy, Annemarie Moorcroft, Yvonne Zan, Margaret Markvoort. ROW TWO: Carrie Portis, Brian Roberts, Tim Cook, Kim Atlin, Caroline Sori, Mr. K. Bice, Mike Pickett, Ian Hodder. ABSENT: Bill Trifmopolous, Beth Hunter. Central ' s first Art Council got off to a busy start in the fall of 1982. The members began their activities by posting student art in the library and preparing a special display for Commencement, both of which received many compliments. The Christmas workshops on calligraphy and candle-making were both ex- tremely popular. The Council hopes to send some of Central ' s student artwork to the London Regional Art Gallery for a secondary school exhibition in the spring of 1983. Another objective of the Council is the acquisition of a permanent display area or case, for the school ' s enjoyment. The Art Council is composed of approximately fifteen hard-working members and supervised by Mr. Bice. The main idea behind the group is to make art available to those not taking an art course, and to involve both students and teachers in the various activities, says Mr. Bice. It is quite clear that the Art Council will continue to be very successful in the future years at Central.
