The Junior Boys Volleyball team enjoyed a very pleasant 1980-81 season. Though we had a slow start, we finished very strongly by winning 4 out of our last 5 games, and losing to the City Champs by only two points. A hearty thanks to Mr. Wood, who was a great coach. A warm thanks also to Miss McDonald. y This year Central ' s Senior Boys Volleyball Team faced the inevitable chore of rebuilding. Our record was 9-7, paced by strong spiker Dave Schuetz. With the return of several veterans and some bright and upcoming rookies, next year looks more promising. Naeem Merchant Gord Paddock After last year ' s extremely successful season, the 1980-81 Junior Girls Volleyball team was expected to defend the title of City Champions. We managed to finish third in our division behind South and C.C.H. and played in Conference. We played exceptionally well, and, as a result, we finished first in our pool. After running over Oakridge in the semifinals in two straight games, we faced the hungry South Lions, though we ended up in second place and qualified for W.O.S.S.A. We were not victorious at W.O.S.S.A., but I think it was a very good learning experience for both our coach and all of the girls on the team. A lot of thanks and appreciation go to Miss Rowe for a very en- joyable year. I ' d also like to thank our scorekeeper, Jackie Wilken, and all of the Central students who gave us encouragement and team support. Hopefully, the Junior Girls Volleyball team will do just as well next year. Captain, Monika Long

Although the Midget Boys Basketball team did not have a very successful 1980-81 season, we gained valuable experience. We seemed to be lacking height. Thanks for the fine coaching, Mr, Reintjes! Tal Leyshon VOLLEYBALL 4i i This year ' s Senior Girls Volleyball team exhibited a great amount of talent and spirit. With each game, they improved. They went to the Finals of the Laurier Tournament and to the Semifinals of Conference. There is obviously a bright future for this young team. The players would like to thank Mom (Miss Innes) and Miss McDonald for their excellent coaching and continuous support. Donna Lamb

SWIMMING The Swimming Team had a successful season, achieving third overall in the London Regional Swim Meet held at H.B. Beal Secondary School in February. These results may be attributed to the devotion and regular practice of the team members, and the coaching skills of John Dawdy and John Waring. Mr. West HOCKEY In retrospect, the 1980-81 Hockey Season was a success. Although the team ' s 0-17-0 record did not reflect this success, it was a season of building both character and team members. With only 3 returning from the 1979-80 season, our skaters were made up of 4 players from Thames, two of whom made up our goaltending squad, one from Simcoe, and the remainder of the team, rookies new to the school. It was a year that many of us will never forget. On behalf of the team, we would like to extend special thanks to Mr. Brian Angel (our Coach, from Saunders) and Mr. Wilf Fryday (our manager, from Central) for their ongoing support and the confidence which they gave the team throughout the season. Captains; Mark Gordon and Dave Cluett
