Peter Shaw is gifted with the ability to explain things in a prac- tical and relevant manner. An expert in Energy as it affects society, he will be on a year of absence at the University coor- dinating course study of this field. Mr. Slade, Guidance Head, is the man responsible for the organization of the interviews and c areer information services provided through his Dept. He works to make Guidance in this school helpful and approachable. Mrs. Sullivan, as our German teacher, also manages the German Club, which provides opportunities for members to gain the practical experience afforded by such ac- tivities as games, films, and speeches. Mr. Watson, a French teacher who coaches the Soccer B team and runs the War Games Club, is also known for his Library Patrol duty. This year he and Mr. Chisholm competed to see who could expel more students from the Resource Centre. Ken West infuses Central with some R.A.F. precision as English Head, and Swim Team Coach. His personality is enriched by the wealth of his noble, proud heritage, as he is endowed with the spirit of positive thinking. Eric Wood is often mistaken for a Math teacher, when in reality, he is a stand-up comedian. He drags interest from his charges through the application of his Extremely Sublte wit. He confesses his secret ambition is to become a writer. I wonder if Woody Allen started this way?

Stew Potts is Central ' s resident bandmaster, but he really wants to be a new wave sensation. He wishes to escape from the sordid world of teaching, where he gets excuses instead of work. He feels 75, yet is able to identify with Bo Derek. Weird! Mrs. Rehorn, the Assistant Head of Moderns, also serves Central through her work with the S.A.A. and Spanish Club. Known for her quickly-moving classes which demand involvement and attention, she succeeds, through the respect she commands, at being a just and well-appreciated person. George Reintjes is another busy Phys. Ed. teacher, as a Senior Football, Midget Basketball and Track and Field coach, yet still had time to teach Math as well this year. This dedication to the school rubs off on his charges, whose spirit is impressive even when the scoreboard result is not. Bruce Richardson, as our String Music teacher, plays second fiddle to no one. It ' s easy to draw parallels between him and the Pied Piper of Hamelin, with his annual bagpipe tour through the halls, amid the din of curious students who flock to his side, demanding tunes of Pink Floyd. Family Studies at Central is synonymous with Mrs. Ritenburg. She volunteers her skill to the Home Ec. (sorry, Family Studies) Club, the Grad Committee, and Cheer- leaders. T Miss Rowe, a Physical Ed. teacher, coaches Senior Basketball, Junior Volleyball, and Track and Field on the side. Athletes never die; they just get sent to the locker room before the end of the game. Mr. Ryan, Assistant Head of Science, contributed to the ex- tracurricular scene as the Tennis coach, and staff advisor to the Camera Club. His humour is a quality which permits peace of mind in dealing with material that otherwise would tend to cause anxiety. James Scott, an inspired showman of the school, teaches English and Theatre Arts with some of the dramatic flair of the Bard himself. The results are salient in the fine school productions put on by the Senior Theatre students, often with help from the Music Dept.
