The nlay was geod, but the main thing that caught our attention wet the snirit among the students. It was a jov for the chered nilarimege toward evcellence, I've had the onwortunity now to see that shirit and that camwus community from almost every angTe - es fan, student, trustee, nastor and administrator. From every ancWe, the snirit a1ways shows, On looking back to the yeerbnok of my own rtudent days, I realized the value of this book to you. It is the record op a golden age. Almost like the sacraments. its capes convey in a whysical way the Shirit thet grows stronger every yeer. That's why 01d heercats everywhere sing, In our hearts, we'll ne'er forget thee...... The crises of the long preparation will be forgotten by the time this yearbook will be delivered. The staff and I present this annual as the most complete record we were able to compile; considering the many factors involved. I will take the responsibility for the errors which may exist in this annual. Whether actual misinformation, or more likely lack of coverage of an event or organization, any such occurrences were probably due to lack of information, photographs, or neglect. I have no delusions of producing an ideal book. I do, however, want people to realize that it is an awesome task to tackle a project of this nature understaffed . . . perhaps some old phrase about being part of the solution should come to mind, but I don't seem able to place it. Without digging into the nitty-gritty, I would like to thank the people who have done so many difficult things on such short notice: Mr. Dutton Bailes, our yearbook sponsor, who has been so patient, and who has a talent for realizing just how busy the staff was in other activities, for allowing me'to quarterback with the publisher concerning deadlines, sizes, cover work, and myriad details about the book. Mr. Ralph Harper, the representative from Taylor Publishing Company, who always managed to lend a helping hand, and a well-seasoned ear to the problems faced by a small staff. Hugghins Photography, who managed to find photographs of people in 15 minutes, despite the fact that other things in their office were actually more important. Mr. Wyndel Cummins, who supplied the basketball team pictures, for not locking the door and drawing the shades when he saw me coming . . . tWhat does he need NOWD Jayroe Graphic Arts, who served as yet another home away from home . President Landrum, for his willingness to contribute whatever we asked for, as well as his second President's message. Deans Fisher and Matthews, who have been very generous when we needed little tidbits of information. Judy Morrison, who rarely threw me out of her office, despite the fact that she was the best sounding board for my ideas as well as complaints. My mother Fred for her patient, liberal attitude toward the time I spent on this project, and the money she spent on gas and telephone bills, as well as endless miscellaneous expenses. I am especially indebted to her for her immense moral support. Bonnie IKramerl Amick, for always being available when something tragic happened tdeadlinew . . . and her husband , Buddy Amick, for turning to me and asking, What else are friends for? David Landrum, who stuck by.me until the very last assembly. To the nameless people who have helped with small pieces of this puzzle, and allowed me to stay in their homes, eat at their tables, and often bend their ears as a release of some of the frustrations which develop with a project of this type. To the late Hunt Stout ILamar High School, class of 1976i. whose inspiration pulled me through the fog on quite a few things, and who was a good friend. There will always be a dark spot where he would have been. BOB LA CROIX , EDITOR Taylor Publishing Company lnsolco 000102 L. . .UVVIAV ma , J .. ,.. -1. . ..:..r:h,. vs,
