The Junior Varsity squad had a fairly good season this year in winning three, losing two, and tieing one. Mr. Inglee w-as the coach. Ile also scouted for the Varsity. Coaches XVeax'er and Roberts also helped out with the J.V.'s. The opening game of the season was with Arroyo Grande on our home field. The Braveltets won the hard way, 7-6. The next game was a very hard fought contest with the Sant-a Maria Frosh, The locals outscored the visiting Red and VVhite, 14-7. The following week the boys traveled to Santa Maria to again encounter the Saintlets. This time the team couldn't seem to get rolling and the Santa Maria-ns defeated the Blue and White 25-13. Probably the best game played by the Bravelets this year was against a strong San Luis Obispo J.V. team. Both teams played well, but defensive plays were the standout throughout the game. The final score was 0 to 0. Traveling to Afr- royo Grande, the local .l.V.'s were dropped by the Eaglets l3-7. The final game of the year was with Ataseadero. The prospects for this ycar's baseball team lookeil pretty sharp with the return of six lettermen from last years squad. They were: Gus Linclerholm, Bruce Allen, Gordon Haraughty. Frankie Gallegos, Art Vasquez and Dave Esea-rzega. The pitching was strong, but there was a lack of clepth a-nfl it was difficult for a first-line catcher to back up the pitc-hing staff. Mr. Bilsborough hoped that there would be no need for a lot of reserves as the bench was very small.
