This year the Arimol Staff wanted you to see the funny side of LHS, so in years to come you can pick up this book and think of the pranks, laughs, and fun that your high school years brought to you. Enjoy, Connie Budahn, Editor Vicki Arthur, Co-Editor Dedication Roy Meyer The Arimol is more than just a book of pictures; it holds our memories of the past year, and the person we dedicate it to has to be very special. Yet this isn’t only a dedication, but a tribute to one of the many people who help to make this school run smoothly. This special person is Roy Meyer. This Dedication is our way of saying how much we appreciate all his work as a custodian, as well as his understanding and kindness, when we need his help. Roy Meyer, We thank you! Now we must prepare for a new life, live through the bad times, and the strife. Our friends we’ll miss when we part, yet we’ll keep old memories in our heart. But, one day, we’ll meet again, And remember the times we had back then. Kurt Baumann 19 SPORTS SUPER HEROES Row 1: E. Holst. B. Mason. R. Coulter. T Weyerstrass. B. Zimmel. K. Zitlow, R. Brath. T. There were highs and lows in the team’s play during the course of the sea- son. The young Lions, with a re- cord of 2-4, put out their best effort in a 14-12 loss against North Fondy, who was one of the top ranking schools in the conference. 1 1 Row 1: T. Falk, D. Muentner. B. Buerger C. Steger J. Feilbach Managers S. Schultz and K Netted; Coach Johnston The Lomira Varsity Volleyball team had a fair season, tying for 4th in the Conference standings with a 3-4 record. The following six seniors will be greatly missed next year: Carol Buerger, Laura Thompsen, Darcy Tagliapetra, Julie Feilbach, Steph- anie Sterr, and Chris Steger. Five lettermen will return next year, with the addition of some talented JV and Freshman girls. 26 Junior Varsity Freshman Volleyball Row 1: Mgr. L. Bogenshneider. Row 2: Coach Hargens. K. Hayes. P. The junior varsity went through a tough season, but learned much. They hope to do well in filling in the open positions on the varsity squad next year. The freshmen had a victorious season, finishing with a 5-1 record. A hard- working team, they show much poten- tial and talent to be a great team in the next few years. 27 Cross Country Left “C” (Counterclockwise): P. Hesprich, D. Kornfehl, J. Wulff, T. Garriety, T. Stucke, M. Kuczkowskl, J. Young, K. Van Tassell, J, Scharf. Right “C”: B. Raube, T. Feucht, N. Vander Grinten, D. Novak, K. Jelic, B. Eggers, T. Adelmeyer, V. Arthur, T. Zimmel, (Not shown) D. Bodden. The Lomira Boys Cross Country team had another ex- cellent season, posting a 60-17 record overall. They were a close 3rd place at the Conference Meet and received four trophies, two being lsts (Lomira and Sling- er Inv.). This year’s team was led by juniors Dave Korn- fehl (411-34; or 92%) and team captain Paul Hesprich (524-56; 92%), followed closely by Ken Van Tassell, a senior (484-103; 83%),. Kornfehl and Hesprich made 1st Team All-Conference, while Van Tassell was top mem on 2nd Team All-Conference. These three runners were helped by great performances by junior Troy Stucke (424-163; 72%) and sophomore Mike Kucz- kowski (272-251; 52%), rounding out Lomira’s top five. Lomira’s record should be even better next year since the team will only lose one runner, Ken, and the gap should be easily filled in by freshman Jamie Young, who has potential to become as good as anyone on the team. The Lomira Girls Cross Country team had a good year ending with a 4-2 conference record and a 34-45 record overall. They also placed third in the Conference Meet. The main setback this year was injuries. Since no girls will be lost due to graduation the coming years look promising for the team. Team Captain sophomore Beth Raube (528-8; 98.5%!) Qualified for the state meet for the second year in a row and placed 15th out of 88 runners this year. With still two more years of high school left she’ll help the team considerably in the upcoming seasons. 28 Varsity Wrestling Row 1: E. Holst. T. Garriety. P Jewson, D Zamzow, M Gilkey, J. Weyerstrass. G. Miller, T. Hanke, B. Hartman, J Wulff, D. Towne. The 1982-1983 varsity wrestling team had another suc- cessful season, finishing second in the Flyway Confer- ence. The Lions were 7-3 in dual meets and 31-11 overall. As a team, the Lions broke or tied 8 records this year and individually they broke or tied 13, including 4 fastest pin records. A new record for most wins in a season was set by Herman Tackett with 24 victories. This year’s team captain was Mike Gilkey and the MVP went to Tackett. The junior varsity wrestling completed a powerful sea- son with an 8-2 dual meet record. Leading the Lions this year was Doug Towne breaking or tying 11 individual records including most wins (11). The J.V’s also set three new fastest pin records (126, 132, 138 lb.). ili J.V. cheerleaders: V. Arthur (top), D. Flury, S. Johnson. Varsity Girls Basketball Front: Coach Bloohm Standing: J. Bloohm’s Bunnies The Girls Varsity team enjoyed a very good season, placing third in the Flyway Conference with a 9-5 record, 9-9 overall. The seniors (Carol Buerger, Julie Feilbach, Darcy Tagliapetria, and Karen Gil- bert), who, for the most part, were the backbone of the team, will be greatly missed. But the underclass- women gained valuable experience that will surely benefit the team next year. 32 J F G B V r • i a e r s s 1 k h s e m t a b n a 1 1 Row 1: K. Bogenschneider. Their record was 9- 1 (10-1 overall) and it was a result of talent, hard work, and determination shown during each game. The only loss was to Laconia, 42-40, but the Lions took revenge by beating Laconia 39-31 in the rematch. 33 Row 1: L. Haddy (Mgr ). K. Scharf. S. Rose. K. Kuep. Coach Immel. Row 2: L. Krug. P. The Lomira Varsity Basketball team had a fairly good year, posting a 9-9 record overall in the regular season with a 5-9 re- cord in the conference. The sea- son started out great with wins against the four non-conference teams. During the season Lo- mira lost some very close “heartbreakers”, especially the double-overtime loss to Oak- field. The team finished the year on a high note, beating Marke- san and North Fondy the last two games. Varsity and J.V. Cheerleaders (Left to Right): E. Burns, S. Alvarado, D. Baumann, A. Zeilicke, J. I’d like to thank Darcy for being queen. The fun of Homecoming week, winning the game, and the dance all turned out great. Lighting the bonfire was a high point in the week for me. Dan Waas Queen Darcy Homecoming 1982 left me with some great memo- ries. The whole student body was really “fired up” during the week and at the football game on Friday. I’d like to thank Dan for asking me to be queen. It was a great honor and it is something I will always remem- ber. Darcy Tagliapetra 52 54 zine Two Less Lonely Court Of Honor Jeff Shari, Bob Carol, Joel Chris, Dan Traci, Chuck Cathy 61 Saturday night brought the dance as a rainbow decked gym met your eyes. The dance wasn’t quite as a big of a success as last year for quarrel- ing about the court. Nevertheless, Chris Michels was crowned queen by Joe Graf. This years Winterfest 1983 was hampered once again by a lack of snow. Instead of tubing this year, all the out- door people took to the pond. Ice skating and plain sliding around was the main feature. A kickball game with teachers and students helped add to the fun out- doors. Inside ping pong and cribbage players showed us how to play as exciting tournaments took place. Craig Falk paddled his way to champion ponger and Cathy Buerger pegged the cribbage tourney. hm No me gusta los fotos. Don’t Spy on Me! She lives in the South East of France, which is known to Americans as the famous romantic French Riviera, near the Mediteranian Sea. She lives in the countryside near the town of Marseille which is warm and very dry. Cathy attends a school of 2200 pupils. She has six required subjects and doesn’t go to school on Wednesday afternoons but must go to school on Saturday morning. Her school differs from ours in the fact that they don’t have any extra-curricular activities besides learning. They have no sports or dances so she was really happy to be on Homecoming Court. French cuisine is different from American food, as we use more sugar. She was impressed by all the different kinds of bars and cookies we have. They eat mainly fruit for dessert and have only pastries for special occasions. They don’t have any fast-food restaurants, and don’t eat hamburgers or hot dogs. Coming to America was a different and exciting year and shall be remembered by the L.H.S. students and Cathy for times to come. 74 CATHY WE WERE GLAD TO HAVE YOU!!! AFS 1st Row: T. Zimmel, S. First of all we’d like to thank Ahrens Photography for their cooperation and great pictures! Also our staff photographers. Dawn Polster, Greg Gasper, Sharon Schauer, and Sue Schae- fer. We also appreciate the great art work Tina Zimmel contributed to our book, to give it the perfect touch. We’d like to thank all the teachers who put up with us, but especially the cooperation of Mr. Drexler and the use of the dark room, and the help Mr. Smith gave us with the art work and the use of his supplies. We can’t forget our Advisor, Mr. Maxson and his great supervision. Finally we’d like to thank all those on the Arimol Staff who stuck with us to the end, we appreciate your work, especially the Seciton Editors: Becky Rodriguez, Julie Bauer, Dawn Polster, Terryl Kohli, and Troy Stucke. Thanks again, Connie Budahn — Editor Vicki Arthur — Co-editor 94 The Fun Of This School Year ’82-’83 Is Coming To A Close, Now All The Fun Times Turn Into Memories That Will Never Be Forgotten.
