We, the 1982 Arimol Staff, have chosen as our theme “Trains.” We invite you to board our train and join us on our journey down the tracks and railways of L.H.S. We will be stopping at the following stations for sightseeing and picture taking — Faculty, Classes, Clubs and Organizations, and Sports. So if you’re ready, climb aboard and remember the 1981-82 school year. The little things like a friendly smile For those who may be sad, The clasp of a hand or kindly deed To help make someone glad. Just the little greetings here and there On which so much depends, The little pleasures all can share The joy of making friends — Oliver Fran Coulter has given the students of Lomira High an example of patience, kindness, and understanding In her four years of serving as high school secretary. We truly appreciate the little things she does to make our high school years more enjoyable. Although yearbook dedication Is small In comparison to all you do, we take this opportunity to say, “Thank you, Fran, for all the little things you do. I think the gym looked great and our class deserves a lot of credit for all the hard work. It was such an honor to be queen and I’d like to give a special thanks to Bob for asking me. I will always look back on Prom with many terrific memories. Linda Schwefel King Bob Prom was one of my most memorable exper iences. I’d like to thank my Junior class for elect Ing me to be on court and then king. I’d also like to thank Linda for being queen. The gym was the best ever and the mural was perfect. Being on court was a great experience and It will live with me all my life. Bob Vander Grinten Mike and Sue Mike and Laura Pat and Kim Prom Court Rick and Nancy After weeks of planning, the Juniors put their ideas to work as they began to decorate the gym. It took only a few hours to realize that a large task was ahead of them. But thanks to the help of Cherle Krenz, Patti Feucht, and Brenda Welak, for doing such a spectacular job on the mural, Annette Schauer and Jett Hayes for donat- ing their time to drive up to Fond du Lac to get the fountain and shrubs, Steve Michels for allowing us to use the white fence, and all other members of the Junior class who helped make the decorating a huge success. Their efforts were rewarded by the attractive color combination of light and dark purple with white for the decorations and the music of the band, “Sunshower”. Thanks also to our class president, Nancy Klein for motivating the Juniors and their work. I live In Kalrauau, population 45,000, located In the Northeastern section. Kairauau Is a holy city of the Muslem people Just as Jerusalem Is a holy city of Christians. Moslums believe In one God, whom we call “Allah. Just as Christians celebrate the birth of Christ on Christmas, we celebrate the birth of the prophet, Mohamed, on January 6. My country men are mostly farming people. However, Industry is developing rapidly. Tunsla Is one of the leading producers of phosphate rock. We also have an Important oil refinery in the North. The Student Council put forth a super effort to make Winterfest the success It was. The effort alone wasn’t enough, however, the student moral and enthusiasum made the week. As far as we’re concerned, the week was a success and we hope the administration will decide in favor of making Winterfest an annual event. 58 Great White North 59 Dave And Cathy “Don't those things have brakes? In an effort to increase student moral and melt the boredom of winter, Student Council decided to have a first annual Winterfest. The week chosen was that of February 22 and the activities were to be similiar to that of Homecoming week. Many problems and difficulties were encountered along the way, but all in all Winterfest was a success. The choosing of the Winterfest court was unique. The entire student body voted for five Senior guys, and three boys from the Junior, Sophomore, and Freshman classes. The two boys with the highest number of votes in the Senior class were asked to represent their class and the single-highest winners of the other classes were pre- sented the honor. The guys could then chose any girl from the school to be his escort. The court consisted of: Mike Ferguson and Chris Steger, Ken Tackett and Terri Aldemeyer, Tom Beck and Shari Sche- berl, Thomas Scharschmidt and Julie Feilbach, and Dave Runde and Cathy Buerger. On Tuesday night, a skiing party was held at Sunburst Ski Hill. Over fifty people attended and all seemed to have a good time. “I know I'm going to fall pretty soon.” Thursday and Friday were dress up days and prizes were given to the best-dressed person. Lisa Haddy was the winner Thursday, on Sum- mer day. Going from one extreme to the other, was Jodi Heimerl, winning the prize Friday for her Winter day costume. Classes were cancelled Friday afternoon and the action moved out- side. In the tug-of-war contest, the Sophomores came out on top. Kickball and baseball tournaments between classes were also held. Cross country ski lessons were given by Hopper's Ski and Sports Center of Fond du Lac. Although the pond was rough, students par- ticipated in ice skating. Whether you wanted to or not, at sometime during the afternoon, you probably ended up going down the hill in an innertube. The excitement of Friday afternoon and the triple win over North Fondy Friday night set the mood for Saturday night’s 8:30-12:30 dance. With the music of “The Hit” most everyone had a good time. Upon entering the dance, each person re- ceived a ballot to vote for the couple they be- lieved should be King and Queen. The winning royalty was announced during the grand march. The crown was presented to King Ken Tackett and Queen Terri Adelmeyer by Dale Waas and Jamie Bauer. A clean-up crew was on hand Monday afternoon to remove the Winterfest decorations, leaving “I thought these came with training wheels.” only memories of the first Winterfest but also hopes of many more to come. 60 “1$ It sate to eat?” “Why are we standing here? Weninger, Coach Meyer The 1981-82 Lion Wrestling Team has a long list of achievements; in fact the record book has been al- most completely rewritten. In their tournament meets, the team crowned eleven tournament champions and in five tournament meets the Lions had no fewer than ten place-win- ners in each of those meets. The team gained an honorable mention ranking in the State Class B wres- tling poll and two wres- tlers, Mike Garriety and Bob Vander Grinten, re- ceived honorable mention on the all-state team. The team finished the season with an overall record of 32-7-0 which is a credit to the fine athletes we had on the squad. I hope that the records set by this year’s team will serve as the goals for our future teams. The lead- ership and talent of the returning upperclassmen and the freshness of the younger girls should make for a good team. If everyone is willing to work hard and do their best, the season will be a success. 78 Row 1: C. Relnders, N. VanderGrlnten, T. Feucht, D. Dlttbemer, Row 2: Coach Burmeister, P. Ferguson, C. What they may lack in experience I think they will more than make up for in enthusiasm. We do have some fine upperclassmen with defending conference shotput champ Mike Warner and conference mile runner-up Wayne Bokelman leading the way. With such a young group it is hard to predict how the season may go. We only hope that everyone improves their times and distances through the course of the season and that the experience gained this year will make us a top contender for the years to come. Coach Meyer Returning Letterman B. Vander Grinten, M. Warner, R. Runde, W. Bokelman Golf The golf team will be off to a swinging start In April. They will be coached by Mr. Bennish. The boys have only one new addition this year which makes them strong now, but perhaps weaker in years to come. The girls have outdone the guys with an increase in size that has tripled last season’s number. In hopes of a successful season, remember — May your success be great and your strokes few. Row 1: N. Waas Baseball With a nucleus of lettermen on the team, the players and I am looking forward to a good season. Our hitting and fielding should really come around this year. We've got some people who have been playing two or three years of Varsity ball, so the abili- ty and leadership Is pre- sent. The problem area I see is pitching. If you can get some well pitched games along with timely hitting, we’ll have a good year! Coach Drexler Row 1: Mgr. D. Waas, M. Zehren, C. Sampson, D. Muehlius, T. Beck, M. Marrese, J. It had its hard and disappointing times, but life on the railroad isn’t always easy. Now we must disembark from our train and put aside 1981-82 for it will never again be. We thank you for joining us on our journey and hope you’ll be back to visit these pages of the 1981-82 school year. 100 Last Stop, Lomira 81-82
