4 The class of 1978 wishes to dedicate this years Arimol to Kids-an in- spiration to young and old. When you graduate you say good-bye to your childhood, and enter the world of adulthood . It's time for you to set examples and make decisions. This book reflects the memories and thoughts of our high school ac- tivities when we were young and carefree. There was really no direc- tion in our lives-we lived for fun. The problems were left to our par- ents and teachers. In so many ways we wish we were kids again- reliving those days. But, our futures hold so much. Whether we go on to school or get a job we all hope to prove ourselves. In some way, however, those childhood years will always be a part of our futures. Along with the progress there are the setbacks which make the production exciting and the book unique. Our entire staff has learned cooperation and the art of controlling emotions with last minute changes, dead- lines, and each other. We really appreciate the patience Mr. Alger had with us and the guidance he has given us. We also wish to thank our staff for all the work they have done and the great amount of time they have given up. We hope they have found the experience worthwhile. Good luck to future co-editors and their staffs. What you gain from working on the Arimol will stay with you always. The purpose of this book is to reflect on the joys and sorrows the year has brought. We hope as you look through it you will find that we have accomplished our goal. £ PouuJloiy AND STAFF Copy Staff: Editor P. Hayes, J. Rodriguez, S. Zimmerman, M. Reimer, B. Sterr, G. Sterr, D. Mr. Mrs. Robert Zimmerman, and Martha MARTHA’S PAGE Dear Friends, Now that it is the hour to depart for Nicargua, I think about all that I have learned here. I realize that I have learned the language, a new culture, and have had many new exper- iences, such as to know the snow and play in it. I have many sincere and very good friends. Here they have made me feel happy, like if I was in my own country. I feel like crying because I'm leaving everything now. But it is not more than a farewell until I see you again. It's not more than a simple good-bye. But I know that soon I will see everybody again. I'm grateful to everyone for helping me throughout the year and I know that anyone who comes to Lomira as an AFS stu- dent will be happy as I have been! First of all, a reputable architectural firm was called in. The partners, DAN STEER and JAMES PAUL, drew up some plans and a construction firm has already started work. Workers of the Rohlinger Construction Company, owned and managed by MICHAEL ROHLINGER, are: DENNIS MI- CHELS, JEFF LENTZ, JOHN HOLST, and MIKE SERWE, who provided the equipment. In charge of tearing down the old building are JEFF SCHRAVEN and MARK MUELLER. They are busy laying the foundation and building the new school. When the noon whistle blew, GARY STERNAT, another member of the crew, suggested taking a break and going to see JOAN RUNDE at McDonald's. On the way, the group passes JON CARDIEL and RICHARD ROX- BURY sitting in their 18-wheelers on the side of the road. It seems as though they were caught speeding by two Fond du Lac County Cops, ROBERT WEBER and RICHARD KRAPFL. Instead of going to McDonald's, the crew ends up at Dins' Diner and are greeted by hostesses and co-owners JULIE DINS, DONNA MAKI, AND LINDA MAJERUS. Working in the kitchen as cooks are DIANA INGRAHAM, EDNA CARRIVEAU, and JUANITA RODRIGUEZ. They are being supervised by head cook JANET SCHNITZLER. The crew's drinks are brought to them by cocktail waitresses JOYCE SCHARSCHMIDT and TERRY WHITTY. After din- ner, the boys stop off at TONY MARRESE'S Bowling Alley for a little entertainment and are greeted by BOB BELLING, RALPH LACKAS, BARB REDMAN and BEC SCHWIND who are involved In a game of cards. Back at the construction site, work really progresses and in a few short months the building has grown rapidly. In the course of events, ROGER GELLINGS happened to drop a rock on KEVIN BECK'S toe and as he stumbled he caused a chain reaction resulting in multiple small injuries. Nursing the ill are DONNA DALLE NOGARE, JOAN SCHOEBEL, and SHERI MILLER. Inside the building the carpenters, GREG LENTZ and TERRY BRLECIC are really moving along with the help of MONICA REIMER, who is supervising the interior design. With the intent of Lighting Up Our Lives; the electricians, MIKEZAHN and KEN SHULFER are working night and day. Keeping the construction running smoothly, supplies are being brought in by MARK SHULFER, GREG BUDAHN and LYLE BEISTLE, for the Ram Pack Co. But, before LYLE can unload his supplies, he must first unload his illegal deer. Jumping from the outside construction to the inside we find in the new office area, DIANE ZINGSHEIM, DEBBIE WIESE, BRENDA STERR and DEBBIE DEL PONTE putting in a new Computer System. If you would like to follow the streets of Lomira, leaving the construction site for a while, you will see the new town of Lomira and how it has changed. You find a small building that has been turned into a Pet Shoppe-Co., owned by MARY JO ADELMEYER and CHRISTINE POLSTER. Inside you find BRENDA WIDMER buying a German Sheperd dog to prevent her trees from being T.P.'d. Farther down the street there is a big building called A.J.'s. It is a disco owned by TIMM JACOBSON and BOB AGUIRRE. Today, instead of the usual records, they have a live band - Grande's Dandies, consisting of RICK ODEA, leader; RON KALMUS, guitarist; and FAYE MUENTNER, PAU- LA HAYES, and JUDY REICHERT, singers. Proceeding on down the street we find Beverly and Gerianne's Beauty Boutique; which is owned and operated by BEV SHADY and GERIANNE STERR. To speed things up a bit at school, four new construction workers were called in-MIKE ADELMEYER, KYLE FRED- ERICK, DENNIS PETRI and MARK MUSACK. With their help the building has come along fine. As the construction nears an end, it is time for organizational meetings. PATSY FELLWOCK and her partner DEBBIE KRUEGER, who are in retail sales, are furnishing our new school with desks and all other furniture. Some of the new teachers are driving into the parking lot now. There has been a meeting called by Principal SUE ZIMMERMAN and Vice-President JODI VOIGHT. The art teachers, BRUCE ZEDLER and STEVE SCHNEIDER, have their arms full of easles, chalk, and clay. Tagging along with them is PEG KLEIN, the Business Education teacher, carrying her typewriter. Right behind them come the Kindergarten teachers MARY KELROY, DORIS LACKAS, and MARY KRUEGER, with them, is KAREN JACKSON the new Guidance Counselor. Coming along right behind them are Agricultural teachers LARRY DOGS and JOHN GREENE. They have stopped to talk to the people In charge of landscaping the new campus who are VIRGINIA HUBER, MARK KLETZIEN, and TODD BODDEN. ANN HALL has informed us that MARTHA ARLINA AVILEZ is coming for the grand opening of the new Lomira High School to give a speech and Ann is going to meet the plane. In the meantime JOY ZELLER and KAREN BATTISTINE are being kept busy by itemizing and checking on the cost of supplies and the budget. In the corner of the newly finished gym are the new L.H.S. coaches, BEV KUEN, LISA KING and JOHN KLEIN, looking over the modernized gym equipment. The day of the grand opening comes and into the parking iot drives MARTHA and her airline stewardesses from the trip over, GAIL BARBER, MARY ADELMEYER, and DIANE DALLE NOGARE. In between speeches there is talk of a party going on after the ceremony. It seems as though PAT BOKELMAN and ROSE PABLE are planning the biggest party in the history of Lomira High School. After everyone toured the building, it was found that the school had remained just about the same for the Class of 1978 has decided that to change it too much would destroy the memories of what was!
