'R nnual events share spotlight Could we ever forget the rain- drenched Logan Relays? But damp- ness didn't tarnish the smile of1972 graduate Margaret Mattson, chosen as Relay Queen. Anywhere Like Heaven - a paradise of starry skies, floating angels, and the gates of Saint Peter - enchanted the 132 couples who attended the '72 Prom. Sue Sample and Dennis Bell had guided the juniors in bringing heaven to earth for one evening. Hotdogs roasted and royalty cried at Homecoming, October 6. Queen Barb Castaldi and her court - Ann Mittica, jan Taylor, Gayle Bowyer, and Nancy Bowman - watched the Berries skin the Frank- fort Hotdogs, 39-0. Finally came the event . . . grad- uation. Alone I gathered scattered thoughts, gained courage to ask for a first date, encountered unknown faces and customs as a new student at LHS, talked to parents about major problems they considered minor, fitted in as many different hobbies and activities as time allowed, decided which path to follow through life. Together we ruled the bottom floor as sophomores, strove to top previous magazine sales, followed the tradition of senior cords, withstood rain, hail, sleet, or snow to back the Berries, joined friends at lunchtime and shared the latest news, conquered the maze of crowded hallways avoided tripping over cracks in floors knew both joys and sorrows of friendship. 7 7 A , '.
