I f' ' 'rf' rms t swf., FCLLOWING THE FARISMEN Kokomo 7, Logansport 14! That's what the scoreboard read at the end of the game on Oc- tober Z6. For the first time in nearly two decades a rough, tough bunch of Red Devils ran over the highly touted Kokomo Wildcats. This game was the season's highlight, although there were many other thrillers. The Red Devils' four initial contests were fought against Monticello, Peru, Marion, and Frankfort. The resulting total of points was a massive 149 for Logan while their opponents were held scoreless. It was in the game with Frankfort on September 20 that the Satans made their historic goal line stand, holding against the Nighthawks' nine attempts within the five-yard line. The Devils first defeat of the season came at New Castle on October 7, where a series of costly fumbles cost them the game. At Jeff the Faris- men went down to another defeat due to the Page Twenty-Six breaks that Jeff received on two long touch- down passes. At Delphi the Satans bounced back into the win column, again holding their oppon- ent scoreless. After the aforementioned Kokomo tilt the Devils lost the final game to Muncie Cen- tral at Berry Patch. The year's record of six games won, three lost was the best in nineteen years. At the season's end Dick Berndt made all- state second team, Fred Bauman, Gerald Hewitt, and Otto Hilbert made honorable mention, and Larry Basham made all-conference guard.
