CLASSES AND GRADES Of all the things that went into the permanent record perhaps grades were the most important. They were the measure of a studentls scholastic success- success in the main business of school life. They were a measure of his industry and application, an indication of his growth and development. They were his passports, too, to extracurricular activities, since participation in athletics and the number of other extras he could undertake depended on his standing in his classes. Grades may also affect one's chances of entering the college of his choice or of obtaining a coveted position. Therefore the marks which were placed on the yellow cards at the end of each six-weeks' period were a matter of concern to all. It's really nothing serious. There's more to cooking than eating. Art class discovers new tolents. Latin students recreate old Rome.
