XVho.t shall I do after I g.:'raduate'? is the question most prominent in the minds of high school seniors. A Senior Guidant-e Day for all Cass County seniors, held on February 18 and sponsored by L. H. S.. was intended to help answer this question. Representatives of var- ious eolleges were invited to talk to students who are planning' to go to vollege and to answer questions concerning courses and require- ments. Representatives of various orc-upations and professions were also on hand to meet with students who wanted to learn about the opportunities offered by some partieular trade or profession. Group meetings were held throughout the day so that it was pos- sible for a student to attend several meetings and get an insight into more than one ot-eupation. Early in September, the Tattler stafl' began the process of converting' its film, the Working dummy, into a finished picture of L. H. S. We sensitized the film with ideas and decisions, and trained our camera on school events. We threw our spotlight on the outstand- ing features of the school year, leav- ing the everyday occurrences to add in- terest to the background. Sometimes we worked in full sun, at high speedy sometimes We found ourselves in dark areas where long and tedious- exposure was required to produce an acceptable image. Now and then we found we had under-exposed or over-exposed a por- tion of the film and had to discard it. Finally, however, the negative was ready to be printed, and after due pro- cessing it furnished eight hundred suc- cessful reproductions. A frame in red and white was added, and our picture was complete+The 1942 Tattler. 15,4-V K The first issue of the Magpie was an Object of' pride to each of the twenty-six staff members who had a part in writing and publishing it. The halls' buzzed as each successive edition was distributed to subscribers. MEET THAT DEAD! Coinprised ot' twenty-six members, the 111-11-12142 Magpie Staff got, the ball rolling early in September and saw the tirst fruits of its labor roll off the press on October 4. Having hit their stride early in the year. the staff members turned out the annual special Christ- mas issue with almost. veteran skill. Ulitford YVells has coached basketball at liogansport High School for twenty years. The brand of basketball taught by 'gt'liff has attained for him and his teams statc wide recognition. By aiding the youth of today. through good clea11 sports, to be better nien of tomorrow. he is achieving the goal set by all coaches. This is Gene liritt's second year at li. II. S. and his first year as coach of a football team in inter-school competi- tion. Being young and agile, Coach Britt can and does con- stantly demonstrate traits of skill and attitude necessary in the making of good sportsmen. Norb Kniesly is our head track coach and is working to produce more interest in that sports field. He is also coach of the Berry l3ee's, who were outstanding this year with sixteen victories and three losses. Assisting in the instruction of our football recruits is Don Crain, the husky gentleman from Riley Junior High. During the training' season he is found stripped to the waist working out vigorously with the whole squad 01' diligently demonstrating technique to a likely star. Lloyd Doc Joyce was an assistant football coach and director of Iiincoln Junior Iligh intramural basketball for one semester. He left the service of'l'i,. H. AS. for the service of l'. S. A. His job, ip connection with high school, is to put our future basketball players through their first paces. The smoothest play of the game, and probably of the season, was a neat triple late1'al: llower to Szewczyk to Sweet to Brant, good for nine yards. The most brilliant touchdown of the game came when Rambling Rich- ard Brant snatched an enemy pass and raced ninety-eight yards for a marker. This was the longest run of the year in lndiana football. In tl1e Frankfort gramc llrant made another sensational touch- down run of ninety-two yards.
