ri.: Reviewing their debates are Standing Shirley Netzer and Anlta Haefner Sealed Joanne Tostxucl and Doris Schroeder Rhetorlcally Yes Consclentlously No The question bringing about many heated arguments in the Logan Debate Team this year was: Resolved: t'That the President of the United States Should be Elect- ed by the Direct Vote of the People This group of students started the11 activities with a discussion at the Eau Claire State College Trips were later made to tourna ments at Eau Claire Mcrilll Carleton College and the district toulnament at La Crosse State College The speaking ability clear thinking and careful organization could be witnessed in their compe tition with debaters fiom Wau sau Chippevta Falls Eau Claire Duluth Tomah Richland Center Arcadia Central Aquinas and other schools from Wisconsin and the surrounding states Many of these same schools attended the tournament held at Logan this year The members coached by Mr Boenigk were Shirley Netzer Anlta Haefner Joanne Tostrud and Doris Schroeder The first place trophy goes to Pat Meyer and Lois Plerce list Joanne Tostrud presents her A Judge Ccenterl and two stu Central at Logans tournament en lntentlx Wh11E timing a de case to the ODDOSIUOII from Eau dents from Tomah absorb the bate laire arguments In preparation for work in Sen lor Debate the members of the Junior Debate Squad worked to lmprove their ability to speak think clearly and organize their cases The results of their efforts could be seen by the confidence they had in debating the question Resolved That the President of the United States Should b Elected by the Direct Vote of the People Experience was gained through practice debates with Tomah Central and Aquinas and through competition with othel schools in a tournament at Eau Clalre and the district tournament at La Crosse State College They were aided in understanding the ques tion by attending the discussion at Eau Claire State College De bating procedure was learned through observation of a practlce debate of the Senior Squad The Junior Squad coached by Mr Boenigk consisted of Robert Briggs Kenneth Tucker Raymond Zlebell Joan Roberge and Barb ara Ulrich Page 12 Planning their cases are Kenneth Tucker Raymond Zxebell Joan Roberge and Robert Briggs
