wi'-5 Faculty DUCATION in the days ot large scale logging was ot th little fed school house type, and had a style ot teacher pecular to its own age, Spare the rod, and spoil the child was the creed ot the day, and teachers were hated and feared. Today's method embraces the idea ot personal contact between teacher and pupil, and the general idea is tor the teacher to be an interf esting companion as well as an animated guide post. To be able to cope with education through this medium of friendship is a great stimulant tor the learning capacity ot the student. Not only more extensive learning, but also character development in the right direc- tion is being achieved through this new perspective ot the relation be- tween teacher and student Much ot this friendship is tostered by taculty and Students working and playing together. VV? the students at l942, tncretore, look to our instructors not as unpffeant taekmasters, but as councilors and triends.

The Of- fice Pages are busy from morning till eve- ning, checking absentee lists, sorting the faculty's mail, and carrying passes to their destination. The only duty of the lumber- jack messenger was to bring food to the men in the far away forest. This group, under the guidance of Miss Vera McDonald and Mrs. Thomas Knutson, has a dual purpose. First, it provids helpers for the office secretary, and second it gives girls training in elementary office procedure. During their membership in this organiz- ation they learn to follow directions, to al- phabetize, to file, and to meet people. They also learn to work together and to share duties and responsibilities. Page l I
