First Season of Eight-Man Football for Trojans The Trojans ended the year with a respectable record of 5-3 in their first season of eight-man football. Although there were some disappointments from lack of experience, the Trojans were still a fierce opponent on the gridiron. The three disappointments were losses to Kensington, our arch rival, Lenora, and McCracken. All three were hard fought battles, but the Trojans just couldn't get started until the second half. This year was exciting, and one that will be remembered by many. i 1 HA a. Mitch Wilkison hands the ball off to Steve Altman during the game against Kensington. b. Seasons Continue to Improve Twenty-nine girls participated in the 1979 volleyball program at Logan High. The A-team compiled a 5-8 record and the B-team reached an outstanding 9-1 record. With a 3-4 record the A team went into the Cheyenne Conference Tournament. In the first round they defeated Northern Valley two games to one. But the next match was more difficult as they lost a close one to Natoma. In the final match of the tournament Logan lost again to Kensington, but not without a good fight. Ending the season, the girls won a tough match against Plainville, and then lost to Hill City in a triangular meet. Girls Have Finest Season Ever The 1979-80 girls' basketball season was very promising for the Logan High cagers. With a 4-5 record they entered the conference tournament where they were seeded against Eastern Heights. The girls were victorious in the first round of play as they surprised the Colts with a score of 48-33. In the next round the girls were matched against Natoma, one of the state's finest teams. After an outstanding game by both teams, Natoma came out on top 28-37. In the final round of the tournament Logan came up against Northern Valley and lost after a fine battle. This gave Logan fourth place in the tourney. As the Regional Toumament rolled around things seemed a little bit gloomy as the girls' record fell to 5-11. But, for the girls the season had just begun. In the first game of regional play Logan overwhelmed Eastern Heights 54-43. Next round the girls found Northern Valley was no match for them as Logan came out on top 49-42. In the final match of the tournament the girls' opponent was Lenora. Although Logan played good ball, Lenora's experience gave them the advantage as the Wildcats won 58-30. This gave the girls second place in the regional tournament and allowed them to advance to sub state. In sub-state play the girls were paired against Cheylin, a team with great depth and height. Although the Logan girls played an outstanding game, Cheylin overpowered us by a score of 38-47. 53 if ff it bA fA Pam Stark concentrates as she brings the ball down court. And on this occasion we recall each detail - Each picture of her we try to grasp, but fail, These moments of agony seem like years - Out comes sadness, bitterness and fears. Somewhere over the rainbow my friend - Life is abundant, and there is no end. Did you take time to notice Elaine's last days - Did you notice the change taking place in all her ways? This paradise is full and free - It's as beautiful as the rainbow, and as peaceful as a ship on the sea. Elaine depended upon this promise to get her through - She was no longer empty, searching, or blue. She accepted the gift of life that is abundant full and free - For her reason for living was in a hill called Mount Calvary. Are you searching my friend lost, burdened, heavy and can't see? For you jesus died and was nailed to a tree. Elaine shared with me her hope for tomorrow - And in her plans there was no sorrow. Will you forget the words she spoke, the kindness she'd shared - Or will you remember, cherish, and accept her dare? No one said it would be easy to change - But then beautiful things are seldom easy, Life is like a rainbow, that ends in a moment or two, But somewhere over the rainbow there is eternal life for you. The biggest thanks goes to the advertisers, who without, a yearbook would be impossible. Next, special thanks to the staff and photographers, who spent so much of their time trying to make the 1979-80 yearbook a success. Also I would like to thank Gyola Pears for her many hours of work on the division pages. Last but not least, a very warm thanks to Mrs. Archer. Without her patience, hard work and understanding the yearbook wouldn't exist. Thanks again Xml-l Kim Hoback Editor - g
