Each of us is an individual, yet our lives are influenced by our friends and the people around us. We should appreciate good ole LHS for th. togetherness that stems from being with people we know and trust. Working and sharing together are easily attained in our school system . With a smaller number of students, we can become acquainted with everyone and lasting friendships can be formed. The teachers can look upon each of us as individuals and give us personal guidance . We can look to the faculty for friendship, as well as guidance toward knowledge . Each person may be a participant in the growing number of organizations offered at LHS . These help develop tolerance and cnar- acter. Each of us is needed to develop this sense of closeness. For this reason, we feel unique as individuals and dedicated to our school. EpewwBoafw6becasEous The LHS administrative chain of command begins with a seven- member board of education which meets monthly to carry on the business of the district. Superintendent , Paul Jones . executes the policies adopted by the board from his downtown office which is open eleven months of the year. Mr. Jones is directly connected with each education center through his three building princi- pals, Don Gleason, high school, Charles Dougherty , Logan ele- mentary, and Roy Watt, Prairie View elementary . Each principal manages the educational process and super- vises faculty in his building. Phillip Altman and Duane Scott serve the district as counse- lor and school psychologist respectively. Mr. Scott is retained by a co-op of area schools, traveling from one to another on a regular basis, work- ing with each school in problem areas that deal with education. I5 swab Paws Physical fitness is as important to the well-rounded individual as mental growth and social adjustment. LHS offers three courses which give students an opportunity to build physical fitness and learn some social sports on a non-competitive basis during three of their four years in high school. New to the physical education program this year was sophomore phys. ed. for one semester taught by Ken Hanson. Sophomores took advantage of the swimming pool during the warm fall days, then moved indoors to learn tennis, handball, and tram- poline techniques. Karl Skinner, Ken Hanson, and Bob Sebbert have combined their efforts to teach the required fresh- man health and physical education class. Mr. Skin- ner works with the boys in the gym , Mr. Sebbert with the girls, and Mr. Hanson teaches the health portion. Juniors and seniors can enroll in advanced phys. ed. which includes learning swimming, tennis, handball, badminton, trampoline, volleyball, and basketball. Mrs. Worcester teaches all home econom- ics classes which include four units for girls and a unit for senior boys. Mr. Sebbert offers three wood shop classes for boys and one for girls. The courses are designed to give stu ents a progressive study of project construction from a asic drawing to the finished product. For young men more interested in the metal and automotive departments, LHS offers two units of welding and one of small gasoline engines .
