Books aren't the only keepers of knowledge For the library receives 32 magazines every month. These magazines are carefully filed in the periodical room for the students who are writing themes and reports to use. Most magazines have been kept for only ten years but quite a few go back to 1900. In addition to Miss Bland, nineteen students are kept busy with the books, papers, magazines, and encyclopedias. E 5 Several members of the library staff, including Miss Bland, Adkins, R, Hicks, S, Hicks, McNeely, Ragan, and Stone, are putting the material in the periodical room in order. Dorothy Martin is doing her part while Mildred Browning and Shirley Dingess look over last year's copyforms, whichare rough sketches of the ads. Thel- ma Dingess, Romona Gearhart, and Linda Browning are looking at last year's book to get ideas for their ads. Tommy Smith is writing a receipt for one of his Guyana customers. The business manager, Kenneth Queen, is buried in his books and Bob Compton is checking a sales tabulation. Watch- ing their work being checked are Nancy Warren, Rosalie Osbum, Jim l-lanshaw, Peggy McDorman, Ruth Napier, Anna Marie Walsh and Bar- bara Baer, Gordon Browning, staff photogra- pher, snaps a picture of the sports writers, Harry Thompson and Larry Totten, as they look over some football pictures. Delores Blanken- ship and Shirley Browning are busy typing, the latter beingwatched by Mrs. Kirker, the sponsor. Charles Keener, the staff artist, who is put- ting the finishing touches on one of his drawings and Nina McCloud, who is working on a writeup, are unaware of the photographer. STAFF Co-editors, Julian Juergensmeyer and Mary Ellen Hatton, decide which pic- ture of the princi- pal to use in the Guyana. One of the biggest jobs the Guyana staff has is identifying and sorting the individual pictures, Bonnie Mc- Guire, Marian McKenzie, Barbara Molnar, Jean Vankovic h, Mary Hemandez, Frances Ellixson, and Janice White are picking out the people they know. SECOND ROW: Paul Collins, Joe Varacalli, Richard Morton, Julian Juergensmeyer, Charles Gunther, Jim Tucker, Thro' the forest, wild and free, sounds our Magyar melody. This phrase brought swelling applause as the curtain fell on the Glee Club's production ofVictor Her- bert's world famous o p e r et ta, THE FO RT U NE TELLER. The production was high-lighted by dances--ballet, tap, a d a g i o, folk, and can can--c o l orfu l, costumes, and beautiful singing. The operetta was crammed full of gypsies, hussars, ballet girls, and royalty. The setting of the opera was at the chateau of Count Berezowski in the mythical king- dom of Livonia and concerns the loss of an important lottery ticket which the Count had sent to a ballet girl. He nearly got tricked into marrying a g psy fortune teller instead of the bal- let girl but the lottery was abol- ished anyway and all ended well .
