Students have shown their Grizzly pride this year, along with good judgment in dress and conduct. I feel this year’s studentbody has made many fine accomplishments. I enjoy working for the students because of the support and cooperation they give.” The students and faculty of Logan High School are 1 in my book. I a .1 even more convinced of this now than I was three years ago. I consider it an honor and a privilege to be associated with all that goes on at this special institution. I begin eac' day with a keen sc? .sc of responsibility as to how I might be of positive assistance to students and faculty. At the close of each day, I wonder just how well I have measured up. Though there are certain frusrrations in a position of this type, the satisfactions greatly outweigh the disappointments. I sincerely hope that the students of Logan High will always know that we” are on their side, and that anything and everything done in their behalf is done with the sincere hope that it will be for their benefit.” Ray Haslam — Assistant Principal Studentbody Officers Put 78-79 Together EC ■) 1st Shawn Mccham President Tracey Middlebrooks Vice-President Wendic Petersen Secretary Scott Cheney Executive Shari Mortcnson Executive Kelley Nelson Executive Studentbody Officers 15 Student Senate Initiates New Amendments Under the direction of Larry Haslam, the Student Senate meets everyday during first hour. Through their hard work, an amendment has been passed that if students are caught smoking on school grounds, a ticket will be issued. A bill has also been passed on stricter conduct during assemblies. During this time they also go over the school constitution and any upcoming activities. Homecoming, assemblies, winter carnival, and spirit week are just a few of the activities planned by the Student Senate. Amazed at the new ideas of the Senate. Larry doesn’t know what to think. Objection to question is now in motion,” states Steve Jones enthusiastically. As the senior class officers think of new activities, it’s obvious that Barbara Lutz’s mind is somewhere else Scon Cheney tries to persuade the srudenbody officers with his bizarre ideas 16 Student Senate Row 1 Randy Anderson. It is my belief our quality control has been excellent. Your attitude and behavior have been outstanding. Your accomplishments have been superb. Your impressive spirit and zest for life have made our community a more enjoyable place to live. I hope your years ahead will be marked with an urgency to meet your full potential. Your youthfulness has helped keep us contemporary and in touch with events. For this we extend our thanks. I am proud of Logan’s most valuable resource — the community’s youth. A teacher can see students develop into curious, interested, useful individuals. It’s neat to see young minds grasp new ideas and begin to set patterns which will influence their life and society. One of the most exciting and unbelievable achievements was that of the football team, who under the leadership of head coach Mel Galli, came home from Salt Lake one day with a huge trophy naming them State Champs.” They finished the season with a 12-0 record. This is something never accomplished before in the history of Logan High. But they weren’t the only ones to take State. The golf team came home with a trophy bearing the same title. The basketball team proved they were tops by beating Sky View twice in a row. The Hi Lo’s took first place in the US A. Competition, and the cheer and songleaders came home from spirit camp with superior trophies. This is definitely a year that won’t be forgotten. Alan Smith tries to be One Wild and Crazy Guy.' Homecoming week was a lot of work, effort and time,” says Kelley Nelson, Homecoming Chairman, but very worthwhile. The week was filled with numerous activities, including assemblies, pep rallies, car bashing and jumping over girls. Homecoming eve started with a parade, followed by the Senior Women’s powder puff game, the sophomore bonfire, and the fireworks. The finale of the week was the game which led the Grizzlies to a perfect record of 7-0 when we tromped the Scots. Hoyt’s Hustlers got help for offense and defense from Ken Berry and Steve Jones. After two weeks of practicing, the big day for the game came. The girls came to school wearing long dresses and corsages to show their enthusiasm for the event. “ The first touchdown was made by Peggy Sorenson after a pass aught by Debbie Hansen. The girls played the last quarter of the game in the dark with a final touchdown by Lisa Bowen for Brunson’s Bruisers. Beckie Hoffman and Donna Peck quarterbacked for the white team, and the red quarterbacks were Jennifer Giles and Julie Maughan. The girls get psyched for their game After playing twelve games with several close scores, the volleyball team’s final outcome was 2-12. Despite their many losses, the girls learned a lot from their new coach. Miss Rogers, and they enjoyed playing. I loved it! It was great, and I wish it wasn’t over. We have an exceptional coach, exclaimed Rosie Harris after the season had come to an end. It was Miss Rogers’ first year as a volleyball coach, and it is obvious that the team enjoyed her coaching. Miss Rogers summarized the girl’s volleyball season by saying, The team improved in skill more than I expected them to. There were four or five games that we only lost by two points.
