Conclusion 4 Theme Theme 5 8 Theme Theme 9 10 Theme The Principals, an important ingredient to a successful school As our principal and a Logan High School graduate, Rulon Olsen thinks that our school is the greatest! His enthusiasm and pride make him an excellent principal. He said, We have the best teachers and finest staff around.” He is especially proud of our athletic program. The new region really helped us find success in athletics. Because our organizations have always been outstanding, Mr. Olsen is really pleased with the efforts and accomplishments made by the Grizzlies to uphold these fine traditions. He enjoys working hard to improve our school because of the support and cooperation given by each student. Mr. Olsen feels that we all need to have even more pride in our school. We need to strive to uphold her standards and keep the halls and campus cleaner. Even though our school is not perfect, he knows we are the best! Rulon Olsen Principal Mr. Raymond Haslam says, Logan High School has some of the finest students in the United States. I wouldn’t trade for any other school.” Before becoming our vice principal he worked with the string orchestra programs here and in Ogden for twenty-two years. He was the conductor of our fine orchestra for thirteen years. He enjoyed his work with the orchestra students but is very pleased to work with the entire studentbody now. Mr. Haslam loves his job and is very proud of our school. He wants all students to know that he is here to help them. His smile and concern make him a great vice principal. 14 Principals L.H.S. The new program started to prepare for 1980 when all graduating seniors must pass competency tests. These tests are given to junior students. Those who do not pass the test are required to take the new Basic Skills class. This new offering should be a great help to those who must take the tests for graduation. Patricia Stoddart English Kathy Johnson English, French My you students are so intelligent, snaps Kathy Johnson. Rudy Puzey Kent Soderquist Industrial Arts Art Along with teaching typing, shorthand, accounting, cooperative office education, distributive education, and business machines, the business department has put an added emphasis on the free enterprise system. As a result of this, the distributive education classes, under the direction Mrs. Hall, have remodeled the school store where students can actively participate in the free enterprise system. Industrial art students experienced several activities; including, constructing a house, assembling radios, and repairing automobiles. The capable staff provided practical experience, industry involvement, and on-the-job training. She thinks that's a good caption, wonders Peggy Christensen. Faculty 23 Does Math really mystify students? With the aid of calculators and good teachers, math students tried all year long to understand mathematical mysteries. The faces of students emerging from geometry, algebra, and calculus classes show different feelings, the most common of those being total confusion. Carletta Elich Mathematics Yes, you're right. We have now had our turn, and it is time for us to move on and let others fulfill their dreams. For the last dozen years we have climbed this long path of learning. Now, as we reach the peak, we must realize we have only climbed our first foothill. Stretched out ahead of us are many more horizons and peaks for us to conquer. This first climb may have seemed difficult, but it was only to prepare and condition us for what lies ahead. Don't be afraid to begin the ascent on the next hill. It is up to us to meet the challenges we will face as we move forward. We determine whether we are found asleep on the foothills of life or standing proudly on the highest peaks. 1 % . One characteristic, however, which may explain his excellence as an athlete is intensity. Intensity is often rewarded with success, but these are risks that can result in tragedy. Intense people strive for excellence and, as a consequence, must be in the center of the “action.” That is where Jim was when tragedy struck. But he can and will use his intenseness to turn even this tragedy into success. Jim is now responding to tragedy as intensely as he played football.
